2023 Portal Recruiting (CLOSED)

Not to belabor that point, but that article is over 10 years old. Now that the portal and NIL are in full swing the numbers might be very different.
I should have noticed that. FWIW when I google it I get this:

What is the graduation rate for NCAA football players?

Since the GSR's inception, the overall student-athlete rate has soared from 74% to a two-year consistent rate of 90%. NCAA President Mark Emmert congratulated student-athletes on their continued academic success.Nov 15, 2022

Granted this is all NCAA football players,  vs power 5 which may be different.

Here is a link that let's you look up the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) by school,  sport and year.

For example Texas football program has a GSR of 73 for last year.

Nephew got a full ride at Miami playing QB.   Maybe played in 10 plays or less his entire career.   Was the scout team QB.   Leaving Miami with a degree and zero college debt.  Not bad at all.
I suspect he also left with a killer girlfriend.....College QB's do pretty well in that regard....

He got hired to train a young junior high QB at somewhere around $200 a lesson for a part time job he wasn’t looking for.   Some folks in Miami have money to burn.   Already has his real estate license and is working with a firm that is looking to open a Houston office ( his home town) in the near future.   And yes, the girl friends are very nice.  Miami happens to have some good looking girls as well.

His roommate’s dad has a successful construction business and the roommate’s mom loves my nephew.  Wouldn’t dream of making him pay rent on their son’s downtown Miami condo.

The boy is living the dream right now.

Is your nephew Preston Dewey?

IT has avideo where they discuss portal needs. TE Edge abd LB are mostly discussed with DT a possablity.

To me TE and Edge are ok. LB depends on Gbenda and howsoon Hill adjusts to the game. And DT is well stocked for this year.

This is assuming portal is for this seasons team.

TFB saying they still expect 1 maybe 2 RB portals leaving so the emergence of Savion Red is probably one reason why. They said Red left a lasting impression with his opportunities in the scrimmage. Said he has the quicks and scored a rushing TD, but was equally skilled catching the ball.

So maybe Blue is indeed considering leaving. IDK

Not a huge surprise with him choosing to skip spring practice for track.

That kind of sucks.  I know Moore and Cook have reportedly turned a lot of heads this Spring, but damn.  Was looking forward to seeing him in year 2.

If he enters, Texas will have 9 scholarship WRs with 7.5 fully available for the fall (Neyor is still working his way back and Niblett will be brand new).  Still a solid 2 deep in 4 WR sets, but they will certainly have to recruit some players (HS or Portal) now for next year.

As far as RB goes, I'm fine if one leaves, but 2 would hurt.  Brooks, Robinson, Baxter and Red is solid.  However, if Blue and Robinson both depart then that would leave 3 scholarship RBs with only one having college experience at that position.

Edit: I forgot about Tre Wisner, but I still see him transitioning to WR.  He could either way.

Super fast kid, right?  Ouch.
He had one catch last year for 32 yards. Not bad though he also had a couple of drops. He is fast but was getting buried in the depth chart. Once Cook got here, Thompson was just a matter of time. Cook is more polished and almost as fast.
