Watts has terrible hips and eyes. A good offensive coach will pick at him if he presses. They will run go routes and throw quick on him as he’ll never get turned and find the ball. We saw that all year out of him.
I would be shocked. He’s been our best corner for two years, and even on those plays where he got beat on Monday he was in great position. Just perfect throws. I assume he’ll head for the NFL, but will be glad if he decides to stay.

I think terrible is overstating. Nevertheless, to your point, I wonder if he might work at safety at the next level... Or why he didn't play safety at Texas? He has size, hits hard and is a good tackler (when it isn't Brice Young he's tackling).

Do we know whether or not Watts is returning for 2024?
In the modern portal era 85-90% of transfer portal entries find homes.
Lots of talk about Watts to safety on here. IT wrote an article about that very thing today.
Essentially, he's been pretty good at corner but doesn't quite have the speed to be a true cover corner. Could make a smooth transition to safety as long as he can master the cerebral aspect of that position.

Just last year I read where some 40-45% of the portal entrants never end up with another team.
I didn't find the article from last transfer season but I remember seeing it continued to go up from the below totals. Here is the article from before the 2022 season.

The "are not" heavily outnumber the committeds. If you look at that list, you can see that many of them are flat our undesirable and are less than what you can get on the recruiting side.
The 12 and 27 percent your figures show will never play football again. What I had read was in the 40% range.

- 71.6% found new schools.
- 40.6% of players committed to P5 schools.
- 40.6% of players committed to G5 schools.
- 18.8% of players committed to FCS/DII schools.
- 47 players remain in portal.
Big Ten
- 68% found new schools.
- 36.2% of players committed to P5 schools.
- 46.6% of players committed to G5 schools.
- 17.2% of players committed to FCS/DII schools.
- 57 players remain in portal.
Big 12
- 61.3% found new schools.
- 41.8% of players committed to P5 schools.
- 38.8% of players committed to G5 schools.
- 19.4% of players committed to FCS/DII schools.
- 46 players remain in portal.
Pac-12
- 56.2% found new schools.
- 51.2% of players committed to P5 schools.
- 30.9% of players committed to G5 schools.

However, the stats above do say how many ended up at smaller schools.
