Gerry Hamilton is saying a certain former Top 300 prospect is expected to hit the portal Friday. When that happens, Texas should be the favorite to land his services. Says this is the level of portal player that Texas needs.

Keep your ears to the ground with regard to QB Cameron Ward from Incarnate Word. He's a 6'3, 220 lb junior with three years eligibility remaining. He just entered the portal.

I am hearing UT has reached out.

I know, IC. But he set some records there, namely career passing TDs (71) and yards (6,908). He set the single game record with 610 yards passing and 7 TDs and led IW to a 10-3 season and conference title. He was the Southland's POY.

If Ewers doesn't pan out, this would be a heckuva backup plan. Might be worth pursuing regardless.
