If all it takes is 8 wins, at least the bar is not too high. I think the bigger pull is SEC vs. Big 12. Best players want to play against the best, and that's SEC. We should pay our exit fee and go ahead. OU can stay in the B12 until the grant of rights ends. But I guess we are locked at the hip with them.

Giving your kids creative names is popular with some black families. In some ways it's kind of cool but it does have some disadvantages in our society. To call it pure stupidity seems very wrong and potentially racist.
I never said a word about race, color, creed, religion….  I said that naming your kid something like that was stupid.

Aggy boosters gave 30 million for bag money this summer once they knew Texas was joining the sec. They are all in. Most of aggy class were paid cash money. Several got 500k
Yeah, but there's a tax problem there that really can't be avoided. Sooner or later, that money will again be on the table.

Thats the aggy thing about this.

Now that its legal to pay, aggy still wants to do it outside the rules.

An old GF of mine worked at the UT admin office. One day she told me a co-worker just started laughing out loud while doing paperwork. When asked what was so funny she stated that she was doing the paperwork for twin brothers with the last name of Head, a Harry and Richard. Can you imagine going through life with a name of "Dick Head"?
I was once the managing editor at the New Braunfels paper. During my first week on the job, my boss, the publisher, took me around town and introduced me to folks in key positions.

Mind you, this was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, but I couldn't help myself. lol

So he takes me to the police station so I can meet the police chief. I walk into an office with him and the man standing behind the desk reached out his hand and said "Hi, I'm Dick Headen."

To which I immediately blurted out a laugh, which I quickly tried to conceal. He just looked at me sorta like he was used to it, but didn't like it (my reaction).

We ended up having a good relationship. I'm glad I'm able to laugh about it now. lol

Excuses are like assholes, everyone has one; we gotta go execute on the field and we will dominate future classes otherwise Aggie, LSU, Bama, Ohio State will

Good for them. I'm making a prediction that a couple of those guys will be hitting the transfer portal next year.  Got paid in recruiting and will then transfer to where they wanted to go (be it Texas, Tennessee, OU or wherever).  Without Elko that defense will have talent, but will be subpar by the talent standards.  The offense is still stuck in the 90's under Jimbo and those top players (Stewart) will see how much it is hindering their potential in future endeavors.  It may not be as bad as the 2019 Texas class, but attrition will hit it.  Congratulations to them for winning the 2022 recruiting trophy.

Btw, I'm not being bitter at all.  They went out and did what I want to Texas to do.  There is a catch, I want Texas to do it legally (which I believe they're somewhat doing). I live by a simple rule, the bill comes due...always. If ATM did pay the players and did not follow the NIL rules then I gotta believe their bill will come due at some point.  Maybe I'm just naive and too ethical.

"...attrition will hit it"

Unfortunately, that will happen everywhere, thanks to the NIL rule and the portal.

We need to drop bags if not we will be behind. While aggy gets stronger and better.
We need to win, winning will solve the recruiting issue, we can throw $$ all we want but if the product we put on the field is shit, then it will reflect in recruiting

It’s not just about winning but we need to play the game as well.

I do not admire aggy. They spend millions and millions on players only to find their rightful place in the middle of the SEC West. It does not matter what they spend, there is that place that is just for them and they are faithful to that place.

Its posts like Mike's, where we learn just how much is being dropped, illegally (when it could be done legally), that make you just feel bad for them for a second. And then the moment is over and you got back to laughing. lol

The biggest question I see here is – How long will aggy donors be willing to cough up such astronomical amounts while getting so little in return? They're doing no better than when Sumlin was around.

We gotta stop worrying about how others are doing and self reflect; our program was an embarrassment this year; its sad bc yes for over a decade we've been nothing close to a blue blood program, we need yo get back to that, it comes down to blocking and tackling on the field

I don't admire Aggie or any other program, I just know that ours isn't up to par at the moment,  Aggie is throwing massive amounts of money at recruits as are we, but that doesn't guarantee anything

Hard work, grit, and determination/ GOOD COACHING do; ie. Cincy

Mike's post also makes me wonder how the sooners will compete in the SEC. With the current state of the oil and gas industry in Ok as well as recent SCOTUS decisions giving more power to the Tribes, it may be difficult for the sooners to find the kind of donors able to shell out the money needed to compete at a high level in the $EC. Not that it breaks my heart if my hypothesis is in any way accurate.
