Excuses, excuses, excuses. Add this the fact that Sark didn't mention once in his presser yesterday how hard winning is and I'm ready to move on. Surely there is a quality high school coach out there that could get all those 2019 kids to come back through the portal and turn this program around

The other thread said we still have more blue chips on the team than everyone but OK in the little 12. By far.apologists-apologists-everywhere.jpg

2019 is 1 year, there are kids from 6 years back still around with redshirt, injuries and covid.

Anyone who has seen this dumpster fire close up ain't coming back.

Can't help myself but going to a little nitpicking with Wescott's assertion that 5 of the top 7 recruits have transferred. According to the 247 Composite that is not accurate.

3 players have transferred.

1 is in the portal.

1 is medically retired.

2 still on roster.

It is factually correct that we still have more blue chips on the team than everyone but OK in the Big 12. By far.

Can you list the kids from 6 years back that are still around?

Yeah, I didnt look it up.  I use to keep a spreadsheet on committed recruits and what ultimately happened to them (good or bad) and gave a subjective value for whether they met expectations.  I quit doing stuff like that because, well. other things in life are more important. it also became depressing how piss-poor Texas has done managing the roster of blue-chips since 2005.  A good example was the 2012 class that was rated #1 overall that saw Mack fired in 2013 and Charlie Strong's incompetence.

I was too lazy to copy the blue chips or name the other thread and you want me to do research for you? Lucky for you it's a rainy day and I did some.

Coaches this year have an advantage like never before. Seniors from 2020 could play again, and everyone was granted another year. 2020 didn't count according to NCAA rules. Smart teams took full advantage of this, like Iowa St.

"Good luck finding a roster making better use of the extra year of eligibility than Iowa State.

Not only did QB Brock Purdy, TE Charlie Kolar and LB Mike Rose all turn down the option of declaring early for the NFL draft, but OL Sean Foster, DL Eyioma Uwazurike, LB Jake Hummel, DB Greg Eisworth II and backup TE Chase Allen will all return as super seniors. Even veteran kicker Connor Assalley is back for a Cyclones team barely losing anyone of note. It's hard to even decide which of those returnees is most important."

For the purpose of consistency across website rosters, student-athlete classification across schools of the Big 12 Conference has been moved forward from last season even though the student-athletes maintain the additional year of eligibility granted due to the pandemic. Should they choose to use the additional year, that will be designated at a future time.

When Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was hired as Tom Herman’s replacement on Jan. 2, the former Alabama offensive coordinator wasted no time praising the roster he’s inheriting. While one of Sarkisian’s ongoing tasks is to find a quarterback capable of taking over for the departed Sam Ehlinger, the man who guided the Crimson Tide’s historically potent offense to an undefeated season and a national championship in 2020 has 19 of the 22 Longhorns who drew starting assignments in a 55-23 romp of Colorado in the Alamo Bowl healthy and available to go through his first spring.

“I think this is a very talented football team,” Sarkisian said on a Zoom call with reporters the day he was hired. “I've got a chance to watch them a few times this season. There's a lot of talent on this team. I think there's championship talent on this team. Clearly, there's work to be done or a change wouldn't be made, and so that's a responsibility of mine that we have to get that done.”

The returning starters from the program’s fourth-consecutive bowl victory include several members of recruiting classes put together by Herman’s organization that ranked No. 3 (2018), No. 3 (2019) and No. 8 (2020) in the country according to 247Sports. Relative to what Mack Brown left behind for Charlie Strong in 2014 and what Strong's organization had for Herman to work with in 2017, Sarkisian’s cupboard is chock-full of talented players on both sides of the football.

I'll let you in on a secret. I am the one who did the research regarding how many blue chips are currently on the rosters of all the Big 12 teams and posted that info here. So, hell no, I don't need you to do any research for me, lol.

And here's another secret. Your response to my post had nothing to do with what I said in my post. No only that, but you totally avoided the question that I asked you.

You are better and have more patience than I do at this. The article above said TX has 7 super seniors. I'd imagine you could start there. We may not have any 6 year guys, but some teams have 7 year guys.

Some are, Wescott. Jake Smith, for example, has wanted to leave UT ever since he stepped off the plane. His departure has been in question since then. So this only fulfilled what everyone really expected.

In hindsight, although we're a little thin at WR right now, the truth is Smith had reached his peak and was injured almost as often as he played.

Tyler Owens is a great athlete and is still on the team. He's a good example of the 9.95ers going with potential over true evaluation. Thats on them, not Sark.

Juwan Mitchell was an undersized LB who had a penchant for accumulating flight miles. Again, he entered the portal while Tom Herman was here and didn't stick around to know Sark. So no, that's not on Sark.

If there are any six year players proabily on OL.

Hindsight we are a little thin in talent at WR Fify.
