And I said we are.  Why?  Because of our record against ou.  They have owned us since 2000.  We are 7-15 against ou since 2000.  Those are facts.  Where are your facts to substantiate your opinion?  "Because I said so".  LOL.  That sounds like something my mom/dad would say.

"You are the ones that boo if things go wrong"   Wrong.  I never have nor will boo our teams.

"that leave before the Eyes"  Wrong.  Win or lose, I stay for the Eyes

"Whine if the QB throws an interception."    Wrong.  I analyze what went wrong with that play and why there was an interception.

No need to be defensive.  Just accept the truth.  Hopefully, Sark can get this ship heading in the right direction.

Oh, then I used an absolute when I should have used a qualifier.  Funny how that works, isn’t it?

But my point still stands, some players must have bad attitudes (video, anyone?).  The team?  No way!

So sorry you didn’t get the sarcasm. Darn it all, I forgot to use the sarcasm font!

Please, carry on.

you jump on Java because you think what?....she is a sunshine pumper?...She comes on with as many solid takes as any other poster. I get your point, I really do, but I think we may....just may have the staff to lead us out of the desert. Look at the big picture.....We put an absolute crap product on the field this year and we still recruited the # 5 class in the country. We had so much dead wood on the team this year we might have done even worse. Even with our crappiest in history O line we were putting up amazing stats on offense until our QB was injured. I never saw a sign of panic from our staff. I think they have gone about righting the ship about as well as could have been done by anybody. With unlimited resources it took Jimmy Johnson 3 years to get the Cowboys turned around. When (not if....when) we start showing improvement on the field, we will again start getting the pick of the litter.

and to Java....I say you go girl!

Thanks, O/H.

I don’t know how many of you watched Georgia play Michigan yesterday, or how many of you saw Kirby Smart act like an absolute ass just before half. I sincerely doubt it did anything more than humiliate his quarterback and make Smart look like an ass.

The announcers said he learned it from Saban.  I hate to break it to Smart, but he isn’t Saban.  Saban doesn’t blow his cool and badly mismanage the clock.

Smart was tapping his head and mouthing think, think.  If he hadn’t been so busy doing that, he could have called for a time out, told the kid to run a quick pass play, clock the ball, and try for a field goal.

It’s quite possible that I am wrong about the down, distance, and time out.  I was watching the game with my 4, 7, and 9 year old grandchildren, as well as, a 12 yo Brittany, my 2 yo Australian Shep., and a 2 yo chug.  It was a bit chaotic from time to time.  We had fun, and no one was grumpy!

Recruiting has never been the issue at Texas in my lifetime.  Even under Mack Brown we pretty consistently underperformed our recruiting rankings.

What I hope is different with this coaching staff is player development.  It seems like Sark put together a very solid coaching staff.  Time will tell.

I "jumped on java" because "Because I said so" are not facts to substantiate an opinion on what was being discussed.  AustinHorn (I think) and I made a statement based on facts and being realists.  If someone wants to have a discussion on the subject at hand then bring on the facts and opinions.  But "Because I said so" doesn't hold water.

She already stated that it was sarcasm.  So I think we can let this go.....hopefully.

Recruiting was good however.

Mack did less with more

Strong in over his head.

Tom great in bowl games

All could recruit. Time will tell on curent staff.

Rotty, I said “because I said so” with a grin on my face, because we were told that as kids, in ‘that’ voice.

I don’t think Herman had the good sense to keep rotten apples out of the bunch. In fact, I’m not certain he had any sense at all.

This season I believe Sark had to play the cards he was dealt.  Now he has gotten to know the players, and is continuing to build his vision.  Some of the former players fit and some don’t.  If they don’t like the message or don’t want to put in the effort, the portal is right there.

Sometimes the best thing one can do is nothing.

lol, you're not married, are you? lol

I think what Java said was dead-on. Not necessarily in a factual way, but still a literal way. She is an alum who knows what Texas football is supposed to be. She lived it. Unlike some, she thinks the last 10 years of shittiness is a temporary thing. She's just a glass half-full person when it comes to UT. I applaud that.

The glass is neither half full, nor is it half empty; it is just refillable.”

SHA, does your wife believe that facts and reality are in the eyes of the beholder?

I knew a brilliant UT grad who was deeply into statistics. He could blind anyone with them and have them begging for more.

Then he would say privately that if someone was good enough with statistics, they could make them read almost anyway they chose, which is very true.

I was just watching The Season, 1969, for at least the 5th time.  That team was amazing.  I knew many of those guys, though I didn’t begin my Freshman year until the Fall of 1970.  Many were there for a time, some came back in the Spring to work on their degrees, some dated friends of mine, etc.

They had confidence, pride, and absolute faith in each other.  It was such a good feeling to wake up on Saturday morning and know, with certainty, that we were going to win.  It was great, when we were down, to know that we were coming back to win the game.  It wasn’t an illusion, it was a FACT.

Those are the facts as I knew them.  Those were the facts in 2005.  We came pretty close in 2008 and 2009.  I want those to be the facts again, and soon.  I happen to believe they will be.

Yes, she certainly does. I have won some debates with her and ended up wishing I hadn't because in a way, her point was right. Thats why I could relate to the post you made.

I truly enjoyed reading this post. You took me back.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on who is talking), college football now has parity. The sport grew, more kids played, technology entered the equation, etc. We no longer beat Utah 66-3 in a non-conference game. Utah and many other programs have grown to a more equal platform.

The 2005 team was just better than everybody else. A once-in-a-lifetime combination of players who were not only great, but played well as a team. We had stars and we had role players, and everybody did their thing and it worked.

The 2005 team rose above the crowd, which is what Alabama has done and sustained it.

I hope we can achieve that level once again, soon.

Back to the 2022 recruiting front, it seems like Texas is all but done with this class.  Devon Campbell and Larry Turner-Gooden (LTG) seem to be the final pieces on 2022 HS recruiting.

Kevin Coleman - Don't see him picking Texas and is bound for the state of Florida (Miami, FSU or UF)

Earnest Greene - All UGA it seems

Josh Connerly - No idea, could be a surprise take, but my money is on Michigan, Wash or Oregon

Jacoby Mathews - No idea where he will end up.  Could be A&M, could be Florida, hell it could be Jackson State.  However, I don't think Texas is in the mix.

Devon Campbell - all signs seem to be pointing to Texas.  Crossing my fingers on this one.

LTG - At one point I had him penciled in as 100% Texas.  Now I'm not so sure, but the % is still high.

Am I missing anyone?
