The brothers going to Bama this week reminds me of a quote I got from a former player for a story I am writing for this week. The player was offered by two colleges. His brother and several HS teammates were at one of the schools, but that program was not at the level as the other program that offered. He chose the other school instead of going where his brother an HS teammates were. He said the reason was the coach sold him on going to a school where you would play for championships rather than to a school where you hoped to reach that level. That is the difference in Bama and Texas. Bama plays for a wins championships. Texas struggles to beat Kansas. In order for Texas to move the needle from pretty good to elite, it's going to take players who are willing to put in work even they don't know they have in them. I'm not sure these boys have that in them and maybe that is a big reason they are headed to Bama. There, they can blend in and not be asked to do anything above and beyond, whereas at Texas, there would be a considerable more amount of work. I'm not the biggest Tom Herman fan and if I'm 100 percent honest, I'm not convinced he can take Texas to an elite level. He's a smart dude, sure, but he does a lot of stupid. childish crap that shows a total lack of maturity as well. If the 2020 season is played, IMO this is the make or break season of his Texas career. I don't think he gets it done. Prove me wrong.
