2019 Recruiting Board/Thread

I’m saying the kid is a life long USC fan in southern Cali with several ties to the program. This is recruiting and the straight forward logic doesn’t always apply. Bru is a savvy kid, but he’s still a kid and there is no doubt USC has been where his heart is for awhile. Texas has made it extremely difficult up to this point, but USC has always had the proximity on its side and has been the comfort pick.
Complete waste of time for Herman and the staff this whole process

I feel Bru has been looking more for a reason to NOT pick USC more so than looking for a reason to pick Texas.  This one is over guys.  I’d love to be wrong on this but I don’t think I will be

You may be right. But you never catch a fish if you don’t put a line in the water. And besides they may have good things to say about us with other west coast recruits down the road. I am betting they do.

That’s true, don’t get me wrong I’m happy as hell we pulled Floyd from Cali. It’s just really surprising to see any Cali kids go to Texas especially if they come from big high schools like Mater Dei

The staff did very well out West this cycle. McCoy would be icing on the cake. I will never fault them for chasing studs especially when they are receptive.

Even without McCoy, they landed guys like Adimora, DGF, Smith, and Liebrock. And not to mention they landed Cam Rising the year before that. They’ve been capitalizing on schools out there being down and it’s been effective.

Is McCoy signing with Texas? 95 % no so it was a waste of time
For years many have been complaining that Texas is a national brand and SHOULD recruit nationally.  This goes back to Mack Brown (great a recruiter as he was) who stated that you whiff more out of state, commitments are not as solid... and it ticks off Texas coaches.

I call for a manditoey declaration that everyone pick a side and stay on it.  I declare approval for going after top recruits everywhere.

Likely finish now

Caleb Johnson

Cain

Hookfin

Maybe:

Bru

Coker

Catalon

Looks like the staff will elect to save some ships for the 2020 class unless someone elite wants in.
I'm fine with finishing with those 3.  Maybe get a grad transfer or 2 at OL or something.

Ever see two people reel in the same fish at the same time?

Was also going to make this point as well. How many times have we heard over the years that (insert recruit’s name here) would have gone to Texas had they offered or recruited them harder? The list is long.

The other blue blood programs miss out on heavily pursued recruits every year.

Its one thing to give it your all and miss out. It’s another thing to not even try.

The national brand calls for players across the nation. We are doing pretty amazing in the recruiting department

This. And even if Texas does miss out on Bru, they’ve done well establishing a presence out West for future cycles. It wasn’t a lost cause by any stretch.

Plus when USC sucks his first few years he will know where to transfer. :D
