Just some notes of interest . . . .

Didn't know this until today, but, OU commit Jordon Austin (6'1, 185) cb from Lancaster, is the son of former Daingerfield Tigers All-State CB Marc Austin, who played on the '83 team with 14 shutouts. Marc had a pick-6 in the state final that year. Marc played D1 ball at Kansas State.

OU is getting themselves  good one. He's taller than his dad.

I spoke with Tony Evans today, former All-State TB from the same Daingerfield team. He played TB at Tulsa under Lovie Smith. His 14 yr old son played football for the first time last season and started, starred and seems to have found a home in football. He plays at Waxahachie Life, a 4A school. The genes are there. He will be a star.
Wait, that wasn't Kate!  That was ou talk!

Are you saying his dad played on the 83 Texas team?

Dee...I like SHA, but I got completely lost in what he was saying. All I remember without looking back was he is taller than his Dad and OU got a good one.
Sorry, old horn. I kept it to two athletes.

Daingerfield's 1983 team, which holds the national record for shutouts in a season, was the focus of the post. Marc Austin is a player from that team. His son will now enroll and play for OU.

Having firsthand knowledge of the Austin family, I can say that they've a long storied history, athletically.

Another player from that Daingerfield team, TB Tony Evans, has a son who will plays ball at 4A Waxahachie Life. We'll see him in the recruiting thread in a couple years.

I find you guilty of being deficient in high school football knowledge and sentence you to 18 weeks of reading the Friday Night Lights thread next fall. lol

Now the poster is saying it is not Waddle and is catching loads of shit.

As he should.

No, Texas has never had 14 shutouts in a season that I know of.
No need to get snarky friend.  I was just trying to understand what you were saying.

The “83Dee” at UT allowed opponents 9 points per game on average.

DF allowed 6 in a 16 game season.

Apologies if I sounded snarky. Its been a snarky kind of day. lol

It's really unfortunate if we don't land Waddle. He is a game-changing type of player that an offense like ours needs. Last year, we lost CeDee Lamb to OU whom I thought was a must-get because he's a game-changer.

I'm not writing it off, but won't hold my breath. He will UOV Texas soon although he's seen the campus many times. We should be able to know soon after whether or not we'll be able to pull off the upset.
