2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

He should be named to the staff, I’m hoping as a analyst so we can still add a 10th assistant.
Agree with you on this one. I was very fortunate to see a lot of SLC games when he was the head coach and those teams were a machine. He has a ton of respect in the HS headcoaching community and would be a great asset as an analyst and with recruiting. Having said that, the 10th assistant needs to have a proven track record at the D1 level and unfortunately Dodge doesn't check that box. Getting him as an analyst/ special advisor and Helfrich as the 10th coach would be outstanding.

So Eric Nahlin said the 10th coach will be given the title co-oc and will be responsible for calling plays. Beck will focus more on recruiting. May not be announced this week. Will be someone That is not one of Herman’s guys.
For some reason, I can't see that being Todd Dodge. But I could be wrong. At least that's  what the wife tells me from time to time quite often.

That's great news. IMO the only thing keeping our momentum from reaching escape velocity is the possible continuation of the same shaky O.

Everything else besides, Beck seems to be a pretty good recruiter. I'm happy to keep him as a QB coach + recruiting guy.

I'd be huge if we could get Dodge in some way or form without him being the 10th coach. I just wonder if he would take the job, moving from HC of one of the powerhouse highschools to not being a coach at all.

I would like the 10th coach to be an offensive mastermind with a non-Texas footprint, such as Cali or FL. I guess Helfrich would check those boxes, but haven't heard anything in the last couple of days and don't think it'll happen. But given the CDC hire was done without much noise, anything is possible tbh.

Honestly.. At this point If Texas misses out on Waddle /Keys, which that's gonna be the case, imo, they may need to take him,
IMO Waddle > Moore > Keys, don't know how the staff feels about Waddle right now, but Moore is a take. We need 1 more WR for the slot in this cycle.

Here are the 3 grad transfers that have started following Warehime or Warehime following them.

Calvin Anderson (Rice)

Casey Tucker (Stanford)

Antonio Riles JR (Florida)
As I said, I'd like to take us 2 more OL guys, one for LT (preferably a grad transfer) and one for LG/RG (If Angilau takes his mission trip than a JUCO guy might be the better option?). Regardless, I'll take a Stanford guy any time. Tucker started 2x at LT and 6x at RT in 2016 but was hurt, and was the starting RT in 2015 per http://www.gostanford.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=11716 . Don't know what happened in 2017 though

Riles has seen most of his playing time at RG in 2015, but was side lined in 2016 due to injuries as well. http://floridagators.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=10295 Don't know what happened in 2017 as well

Regarding dodge, if he is hired as an analyst can he recruit?

Just saw that aggy hired the GB Packers DL coach to the same position.  I think most of the remaining dl targets including Ossai have a strong relationship with their current DL coach. Didn't see if Price is being retained, but if he is not, it should bode well with the remaining dl targets.

Texas and Arkansas seem to be in a battle for DL Tyree Wilson and Courtre Alexander. Maybe we can split them, both are good athletes.

Looch is all in on him remaining with the staff.  It may be in a recruiting role, but sounds like they'll retain him for now.

Looch was practically recruiting for A&M on twitter with how he was talking about A&M retaining Price. It was past simply announcing hire and went as far as to call out schools for negative recruiting A&M.

So EJ Holland has been saying Texas will sign about 27 in this years class. We currently have 19 signed, so that leaves 8 more spots.

1. Ingram

2. Coburn

3-8. ? (OL, DL, WR, LB, RB)

Grad Transfers dont count against this class number, just the total 85 scholarships.

I think

1 OL

1 LB

1 WR (slot)

2 DL

1 Slot/RB (scat back)

That would mean he's going to be hired as assistant coach.
He have a past in OC? Cuz read up further on this thread the new coach would be co-OC and call plays? Don’t know him but everyone seems happy with this decision if it happens

Keep in mind that Dodge has a strong connection with Dallas /Ft. Worth pipeline. He's very well loved by the community.  Just like Traylor had strong connection with the East Texas pipeline
