2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

Anyone else a little concerned with all these offers? It feels like we're just offering guys to get bodies, imo. I would rather take only 12 or so this class and concentrate on 2018 now.
looks like we may have to offer about 1250 players to get enough to fill out the class...I've never felt so rejected

I will say this, it's going to be one of the trials and tribulations that we must face this recruiting year. I expected this to be bumpy road ..

HS Staff or anybody with insight,

At this point, are any new recruits buying what the new staff is selling? Or this more of a wait and see what happens on the field type of situation?

Well this is going to sound really crazy for me to say this but I'm glad this is happening now because it will give Herman and the new staff the opportunity to revive the program. It should be about resurrecting than anything.

I remember Strong going through the same thing after he got hired.

He was just trying to hang on to the class that Mack had put together.

It wasn't until the second year that he started pulling in errbody!

I expect the same thing with Herman.

Well, the operative word you used there was "new." For the most part, we're hitting the end of the recruiting year. Not a good time to "start" recruiting someone, even when a coach knows recruits from previous recruiting. There's still a new place to get familiar with in the 11th hour.

So it comes down to relationships this time of year. The kids you see committing have been talking to the same coaches for a year now or better. Sure, you'll see one here and there make a late change. But not many.

Herman still has time to make some noise this cycle. He's got January. I don't expect big things but wouldn't be surprised if he pulled off a surprise or two.

That's a great outlook SHA

Thanks

OrangeBloods reporting Texas could be back in it for RB Toneil Carter.

Apparently Georgia is no longer allowing him to enroll early and he wouldn't have much of an opportunity for immediate playing time with two of their RBs (Chubb and Michel) recently deciding to return for their senior seasons.
He ain't gonna be guaranteed immediate playing time here, either, with Warren, Porter, & Johnson.

Kid better find another reason for coming to UT

Warren and Kirk have had major injuries which leaves porter as the only guy that has been healthy and coming into the year he was hurt to. I'd say for a freshman running back looking to play early there is as good a chance as any. Never know how things will shake out.

Do you guys think that the #HookEM alert from Thompson and Boyce on Twitter is for Carter or another player?
