2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

Some possible early 2017 commits

JK Dobbins

Eno Benjamin

Taquon Grahm

Walker Little

Derirck Tucker
All of them are a take. Would love to see them go public early. This would be a nice strong base along with the 4 already commited, then let Charlie evaluate away.

If we have a good year this year does Strong still encourage recruits to wait after all their visits or does he take more early commits?

It's worked so good for him these past two years I say if it ain't broke don't fix it... but that means another boring recruiting season until next Jan/Feb.

As a matter of fact, from what I've been reading lately, Eno and JK are on the commit watch list for Junior Day on Feb. 22nd or 27th. I can't recall which date it is, but nevertheless, as soon as Eno gets offered he gets happy like pig on shit. Also, another couple of names you should probably look out for down the road the next few months are Baron Browning and Hines.

Lol This past recruiting season was like the NFL draft

– Max Allen: Back in early December Colleyville Heritage (TX) Kicker Max Allen announced plans to walk-on at Texas. After talking to Allen yesterday, It doesn’t look like that is the plan any longer. Allen told me “there was an admissions problem and I couldn’t get help by both the football and admissions offices†so he has decided to head to Oklahoma State. Allen also mentioned that he is choosing to head to Stillwater because he has been given nearly a full academic scholarship at Oklahoma State. It will be interesting to see if Texas offers a 2017 kicker because the only schlorship kicker on campus is Senior Nick Jordan. – (Andrew)

I think he will take a few more early this year.

Man Mack Brown didnt do us any favors after looking at that list of seniors.
Mack pretty much shut it down after the loss to Bama in the Championship game. Unfortunately he stayed for several more years and milked us out of a few more bucks. I like Mack and a lot of what he did here, but when u burn out u need to walk away and let someone else give it a try. I don't know if it was money or ego or what but he wouldn't go on his own. He could have left a few years earlier and walked away a legend. It has also been well noted that their player evaluation process was not good at the end. We missed on a lot of recruits....some went on to star not far down the road. Not sure Charlie realized how bad it was. I hope he can turn it around. Recruiting is looking better and should continue to climb. Now it needs to translate to the field and win column.

Ooooooooo Oooooooo- Coyote

I know people love Haines and I do, too. But if he's not replaced this season as a starter, then we're not recruiting well at that position.

Of the list there, Perkins and possibly Bluiett will be missed on the field. Vaccaro has been pretty decent on special teams.

The rest, . . meh.

had he shut it down after the loss to bama, the muschamp experiment would have started at UT.  would it have ended the same way it did at florida?  no one really knows.

He mentally shutdown after that game. It just took several more years for him to physically leave. I can't see that it ended any better than Florida.
