2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

Just need to see how things play out. If releases are green lighted by the school of NCAA then it is about to be open season. Today's events definitely got the wheels spinning for at least a few guys they signed in February.

Out of the 24 Baylor commits we only offered 8 I believe (Duvernay, Dickson, Hudson, Bowen, Urquidez, Martin, Cobb and Arnold). 

-Duvernay is probably a long shot because we've shown no interest in his brother. 

-Dickson probably isn't happening since he was an early enrollee. 

-Bowen showed no interest in us at all so that's probably a long shot. 

I would say the 5 guys we might have interest in and where there might be reciprocal interest is Hudson, Urquidez, Martin, Cobb and Arnold.

We would obviously love Hudson but I wouldn't mind one of the corners in Cobb or Arnold. We can pass on Urquidez and Martin for all I care. I think Mattox liked Urquidez though.

With that said, these guys need to be released from their LOIs first. Until these guys at least show interest in being released from their LOIs there's not much to see here.

This is a terrible way to look at it. If talent is there to take, then I'll take it.

Per another web-site 2016 OL Commit Patrick Hudson is looking to get out of his LOI. If he wants to come to Texas, I would believe Strong would take him. I would.

FWIW, adding both players would lift us to No. 8 (tie) in the 247 composite

The only question I have is do the Longhorns have scholarship room for Hudson, Cobb, and Bowen (if those 3 wanted to come)?

I think I counted 82 scholarship players last night, but I counted quickly. So there's room for 3 more. 

Plus there will be more attrition. Either way, Texas will make room for someone like Hudson.
