2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

Per EJ

There was some confusion regarding Will Farrar's tweet this morning. He did not make an unofficial visit. It was actually a random tweet from a prior visit. With that said, things are trending the right way for Farrar and I expect him to land at UT barring an A&M offer.

Sounds like Tucker to Houston today per a few boards and hints. He apparently has some work to do in the classroom and is not really a take for Texas at this time.

EDIT: Even Houston most likely would not take him at this point....

Looks like aggie LOL

Tucker to A&M.

Wow, A&M is desperate for any momentum they can get. Hamm even said awhile back that there was no way Tucker would qualify.

At one point I wanted him as part of this class, but it seemed as though things cooled off between him and the Texas staff.  Anyone know the reason why?  IMO, I think this is going to be a smaller class (around 20) so maybe they're just being selective and not chasing guys that are grade risks, That's just a guess.

Texas cooled on him probably grades and we are probably in good shape with a few others rated higher by the new DB coach.

I have so much confidence in our staff that by signing day if we really want him we"ll get him, plus us getting back in with Okudah and ya saying grades they probably slow playing him

Jeff Howe did look back the 2011 class --

" ..... Following the 2016 NFL Draft it’s almost time to completely close to the book on the 2011 recruiting class. Sheroid Evans is the lone member of a group that was the fourth-best class in the country according to the 247Sports Composite rankings remaining on campus (he’ll play in 2016 as a sixth-year senior), but the results are in for the rest of the group when it comes to judging what kind of return on investment the Longhorns got.

Mack Brown’s last few recruiting classes all seem to get lumped in with each other and labeled as a hauls that signify a flawed approach to the recruiting process that set the program back. However, 2011 shows that it’s not simply a matter of recruits being overrated or the staff missing on guys that makes a recruiting class have a less than desired impact.

Texas signed 22 recruits in what was the last of Brown’s hauls where the Longhorns loaded up during the February junior day events. Of the 22 prospects who signed, 17 of them were in the fold by the time the calendar flipped to March 2010.

Attrition hit this class before they ever played a game. Defensive tackle signee Quincy Russell failed to qualify, putting the number of signees who arrived on campus at 21.

Then attrition kicked in, and it kicked this class right in the teeth.....

 * * * *

When you have a class where only 11 of the 21 players who made it to campus make it to the end, and more than a few of those 11 have to fight through their own issues, it puts into greater focus what Charlie Strong has been dealing with. He's been trying to get the roster turned over and has had to work overtime to do so considering this isn’t the only class making up Strong’s first two Texas teams where attrition rates have been high."

Another player who is not a take at this time. He wants to be a Longhorn. Staff likes others more.
IMO with the number of bodies at WR this position is like RB be great or you are not a nessity. With 12 seniors Strong will have to be highly selective. Then only 83 0n roster opens up two more spaces.
