Gosh, I said I was going to back off and get a break from HS 2015 recruiting but I hear and feel this HUGE SUCKING SOUND pulling me back into 2016.

A full 363 days out from the next NSD !!!

I usually don't take Clay Travis seriously, because he's a SEC lapdog shill. However, this article is semi-interesting and has one eye-catching factoid. Only one team without a Top 10 class has won a National Championship since 1995 - Oklahoma.

there is a list in here http://insidetexas.com/inside-scoop-2615/

FEBRUARY VISITORS

RB Rakeem Boyd, Stratford (Houston, TX): Has visited Texas a couple of times. He’s sort of in the Tristian Houston mold.

RB Raynard Harmon, Cypress Woods (Cypress, TX): Athletically similar to that Daje. He’s a short, yet powerful APB you can line up anywhere and hurt people in the run or pass. He should get tons of offers.

RB Devwah Whaley, Central (Beaumont, TX) â€“ holds offer: Could be a safety or running back. He’s electric when he plants and goes.

RB Aubrey White, Wylie East (Wylie, TX) â€“ KANSAS: Another back who lines up all over, Strong appears to be looking for a Percy Harvin type for the offense. He’s really seen his stock soar since committing to KU in October. He claims offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, OU, and TCU amongst others.

WR Devin Duvernay, Sachse (Sachse, TX) â€“ holds offer: One of the most explosive receivers and kick returners in the entire nation. Look for numbers to be tight at the position going forward because of Texas already having two committed. Duvernay will be a priority.

WR Reggie Hemphill, Manvel (Manvel, TX) â€“ TEXAS: The 2-time Texas commit, I think we can comfortably say Hemphill wants to be a Longhorn.

WR Mykel Jones, Patterson (Patterson, LA) â€“ holds offer: Holds an affinity for Charlie Strong but keeping him from LSU will be difficult.

WR Tre Nixon, Viera (Melbourne, FL) â€“ holds offer: Another very explosive receiver, Nixon is woefully underrated by the services.

OL Jean Delance, North Mesquite (Mesquite, TX) â€“ OKLAHOMA: My third favorite OL in the state, Delance is a likely Top 12 player in state.

OL Keenan Murphy, Crosby (Crosby, TX): I wish he was just a bit taller because the kid has very nice tape. He does some uncommon athletic things and is nasty. He plays tackle in high school but will be an interior guy unless he gets taller. He would be a VERY athletic guard.

ATH Sewo Olonilua, Kingwood High (Kingwood, TX) â€“ TCU: He’ll have the ideal size and athleticism to play Mike but he may just be good enough to stick at running back because of some natural traits.

DT Darius Anderson, Fort Bend Hightower (Missouri City, TX): Space eating NT in college, Anderson has a strong base and is good off the ball.

DT Michael Williams, All Saints’ Episcopal (Fort Worth, TX) â€“ holds offer: Sort of like Darrion Daniels in 2014, pretty raw but is very athletic.

DE Mark Jackson, Steele (Cibolo, TX) â€“ holds offer: Great length at d-end, he could be athletic enough to play Fox.

LB DeMarco Boyd, Gilmer (Gilmer, TX) â€“ TEXAS: You know the story here.

LB Nathaniel Evans, John Curtis (River Ridge, LA): Under-recruited thus far, Evans is a solid ILB prospect who plays with good tempo (doesn’t overrun ball carriers). He can get deep in his drops or fill gaps.

LB Dontavious Jackson, Alief Elsik (Houston, TX): Big ILB who is the explosive tackler you’d like to see at his size. He can run too. Jackson is already in high demand.

LB Jeffrey McCulloch, Aldine Davis (Houston, TX) â€“ holds offer: He’ll be a priority in the class as a linebacker with tons of length and basketball athleticism.

CB Eric Cuffee, Waco High (Waco, TX): His recruiting has really picked up steam in just the last week with Michigan, Stanford, Ole Miss, OU, and TCU offers. Don’t be surprised if Texas jumps in the mix. He’s visited a couple of times already.

CB Taylor Perry, Crosby (Crosby, TX): He’s about as physical a player as you’ll find in a 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame. Does this guy think he’s Floyd Mayweather or what? Fun highlights to watch. Kid is ultra quick in everything he does and does not decelerate when tackling. 2017 player. Get to 5-foot-11, Taylor, but even if you don’t you have a bright future.

S Eric Monroe, Galena Park North Shore (Houston, TX) â€“ holds offer: Was injured for much of the season, but when healthy, he’s a hell of a talent who could play corner or safety in college. He’s one of the top rated players in the nation.

ATH Grayland Arnold, Kountze (Kountze, TX) â€“ BAYLOR (holds offer): Great film. He shows the athletic traits to project to either side but also plays with max intensity and effort.

ATH Christian Wallace, Tompkins (Katy, TX) – TCU: Has the size and athleticism to become a big time player but has yet to put it together on the field.
Thanks, JG. Lot of great info there regarding 2016 prospective recruits. Great work and input on your part. Thanks, amigo.

Wow, that kid is special... very special.
I would get in the car and go pick him up and then give him the car.

Augie Garrido
Yep!
Hope we land him, but I think this kid is tOSU bound. I don't blame him with Meyer being an offensive genius.
Perhaps, but I think we all can agree that Charlie Strong will not quit recruiting a kid he wants until the LOI hits UT's fax machine, or the other schools. A lot can change between now and when he has to decide.

We need to give this kid a serious look. Legit 4.39 40 and still growing. Reminds me of J. Charles when he was in H.S. Trevor Speights (McAllen Memorial 6A RB/athlete) is an Arizona verbal. Rich Rod was on him early, before Charlie and co. came in and got established. Tennessee and Mizzou have now offered and Auburn and a few others are jumping in. He did visit UT for the TCU game and we are finally showing some interest. Most services have him as a 3* but if he were playing in a city with more publicity he'd get much more attention. Looks like we are finally paying attention but i hope it isn't too late. Solid kid from a good family. Academics are important to them. He could potentially be flipped I think.

I know we can't take them all, but I've seen enough from this kid to know he is going to be making some fans very happy on Saturdays.

2016 QB Shea Patterson's brother is no longer on the LSU staff.

We like Buechele. but this development might help us some anyway.

The bro is rumored to be a possible at Ole Miss

IMO, the "MUST HAVE" on defense this year is DT, Kendell Jones, 6'4 300 lbs, Killeen Shoemaker. We'll need at least three DTs in this class, IMO. But he's the one I want right now.

Would also like to get a pair of DEs like Manor's Eric Fowler and McKinney's Justin Madabuike.

Haven't decided yet on who the "must have" on offense is.

I'm originally from the RGV, and have seen Trevor play in person once or twice. He is very very talented and exciting to watch. However, it's very hard to gauge his talent going up against RGV defenses, because he can really simply "out-athlete" anybody who steps on the field with him, and that won't be the case in college. Hopefully, they make a good playoff run and he can show that he can do it against big city defenses too. I'm always pulling for an RGV player to make it big!

Completely agree, we need 3 DTs, 2 that will play in 2016, 1 that could redshirt.

Kendall Jones is definitely a must have. Ed Oliver looks like a long shot just bc we don't do well at Houston Westfield.

DL is the most important group in 2016 and so our DL coach must be a great recruiter.

Bry-Man what town in RGV you from. I am from Donna and my brother lives in Edinburgh and my sister in Weslaco

I hear you on the competition argument overall making it hard to gauge. But that doesnt mean he isnt one of the best in the state. I often think too much is made of the it though. All of the pub some players get at the big Dallas and Houston schools also overinflates some of those players value as well. Look how many overrated busts come from there. How many recruiting guru's do you think have watched Trevor compared to a Dallas or Houston person? In Trevor's case it isn't like he was running behind an exemplary O-line nor with a passing threat to keep defenses honest either. Memorial will not make a deep playoff run for those reasons. He averages over 11 yards per carry, and he normally sits the second half after racking up 250. Against a stacked box, every game. That is hard to do, just ask Jonathan G. And Malcolm Brown about a weak O-line and no passing threat.

I freely admit I'm a fan of his because I know him and his family well, and I'm not a D1 RB coach, but I was part of our football program at UT for a stint and if it makes us all feel better I'll stay at a Holiday Inn Express tonight and post the same thing tomorrow. This kid is the real deal and the Out of State schools are starting to jump all over it. I just hope we do our due diligence because he is a good student, quality character kid and wouldn't pull this "coin flip" look at me crap. Auburn and a few others are about to offer it seems in addition to those that already have. He will honor the Arizona verbal IMO unless Texas offers. We are probably hampered by numbers in '16 too. Ok, sales pitch over for the local kid. I just know if he leaves we'll all be hearing the announcers say "how did they let him leave the State" like we always do.

Oh I hear you, I have no doubt that he is or should be considered one of the best and I would love if we offered him. I'm just have heard the story from a coaching/recruiting guru all too often regarding the talent we have down there. Not many recruiting gurus go to the RGV unfortunately, so they just watch highlights, then say something like, "Opponents stack the box, but he's bigger, faster, and stronger than every single defender and wonder if he can do the same things against college level athletes."

It's an unfortunate stigma that's gets placed on RGV athletes through no fault of their own...but very few athletes (especially skill players...RGV O lineman have had some good success) have yet to disprove it, unfortunately. I am really hoping that Trevor gets his chance and proves how talented he is!

I was born in Weslaco. When I was little I told everyone I was born in Mexico instead of Weslaco. Go Donna Redskins. 😃

Good news for 2016 recruiting…

On the LHN Charlie Strong indicated that there were 2-3 scholarships remaining for 2015.

Per this Horns 247 article… since Colin Johnson and Reggie Hemphill are both enrolling early for 2016, then “With Texas having been three signees short of the maximum for the 2015 class on signing day, it's possible both scholarship could get rolled back and factor towards the 2015 numbers.â€

This will give the Horns 2 more slots for the 2016 recruiting class.

Nice. Use up one of those spots for Vernon Adams Jr. and then give the other two to Colin and Reggie.

Nope, I won't let it go.

Higs claims he was told not to announce the date of the first Junior Day in Feb

But it will not be on the 14th

Higs sees ~14 seniors.  Says there is usually 3-5 lost to attrition (various reasons, incldng NFL) which puts us ~ 19.  But if atrition is higher, which it may be this time too, then 20-21.  So, look for 2016 class size to be b/w 19-21

He does not think we get Shea Patterson (or Malik Henry either).  Patterson may end up where his brother does

Staff likes Buechele alot

With Johnson and Hemphill on board, we are looking at one more WR (maybe Tre Nixon).  We are very happy Johnson will be an EE

We should take b/w 6 - 7 linemen in 2016 (combined total for both OL and DL) -- "OL could be a big OOS year"

We should take 2 TEs in 2016s

We like Devwah Whaley at RB

The big DT names for us right now are Kendell Jones and Ed Oliver.  Jones likes our staff, but lets get new  coach in and see.

At DE, the names for now are Justin Madubuike, Erick Fowler and Mark Jackson

Higs says we take only 1 safety -- (this is surprise as Texas is loaded with top flight safeties in 2016)

We see Demarco Boyd as an OLB -- kinda interesting (also, Cherry and Wheeler are both ILBs.  Hager will be hand-in-the-dirt DE)

We might know something on Merrick by end of next week
