SignUp Now!If you remember, this time last year the buzz was that Murray was going to flip, Daylon Mack was a done deal and Lampkin was doing his damnedest to recruit for the Horns. Clairington, Johnson and Cherry were also part of last year's class. Remember the Fab 5? One made it on the team to start the season. The team was down to 79 scholarship players before they game Matty Merrick a full scholly. The hype was certainly there last year, but in a lot of ways, it fell apart.I realize I am new around here, but I respectfully disagree. I think last years recruiting class was stellar by any definition. We landed a top 10 class and that is stellar. We got losses, but so did most programs. In one single class we got 2 pure freshmen OL starters which is almost unheard of....and they were not merely plug ins....they were very good by any standard. We got a future AA LB and several very good DB's.
Mack used to give us top 5 classes that often contributed little. I dont care when Strong gets them to commit, just as long as they commit. ok...ok...I admit this style causes me to hit the malox, but it seems to be damned effective. I realize there is always the chance that all these rainbows and unicorns were are looking at now might not blossom.....but dammit!...I BELIEVE they will...at least a good many of them
Just from the sound bite I get from the team and committed recruits, it appears that for the first time in years they might all be pulling from the same side of the rope.
Football is football. You really are over thinking this. Louisville has 85 scholarships, UT has scholarships. How many students a university has, how much money etc etc. Its still football. For the record Strong at Louisville would have handed us our ass his last two years there. If you remember, this time last year the buzz was that Murray was going to flip, Daylon Mack was a done deal and Lampkin was doing his damnedest to recruit for the Horns. All things considered, I am hoping to see players at positions of need sign on NSD, all of them get through the clearinghouse and the team not be below 83 scholarship players when the season starts. Those three benchmarks will be how I judge Charlie Strong's recruiting efforts.
"Stellar by any definition" shouldn't leave the team with gaping holes like last year's team had and shouldn't have 20% of the recruiting class not make it to the first day of classes.
Let's be brutally honest. Charlie has to deliver this year. The first step of that process would be translating the recruiting hype into a solid signing class on NSD and getting himself some momentum. Momentum will buy him some goodwill with the alumni and be a solid first step into getting him out from under the black cloud that is hanging over him. Then he needs to get them all through the clearinghouse and on campus.
I like the hype. Things seem like they are under control. I just am not buying into any hype until Charlie shows his recruiting style translates from mid-major Louisville to a major program like Texas. We just need to get this program turned around and we need to see some solid signs that it is happening like closing out a recruiting cycle with some unabashedly positive momentum.

Seems to me it's national news, so someone had to care. They will find violations in track and basketball mostly. LOL Move along here the NCAA is not going to do jack. No one really cares about this.

The timing on this is perfect too. He is on his way there now.Hope this helps get Deontay Anderson

Doesn't bother me one bit. Lets see what actually comes of this. I bet most the allegations end up against the track and basketball team. I bet the thing goes away quietly. If anything is proven against football they probably lose a scholarship or two and get probation.I wonder if it has anything to do with $$ to recruits? (I'm KIDDING!!!!...just a little poke at MBHornsfan)
Probation is enough to turn some away.Doesn't bother me one bit. Lets see what actually comes of this. I bet most the allegations end up against the track and basketball team. If anything actually gets proved at this point.Probation is enough to turn some away.
