FWIW - Higdon says Claude Mathis is not getting hired.  Higdon has hinted that this position is already filled and that they've known for a little while that Robinson was leaving.
So Strong now has officially replaced his entire offensive staff before his 3rd season. What an utter failure and wasted two years. Lets hope he got it right this time. I am giving Strong this year. If I do not see a big improvement I am will be on the fire Strong bandwagon.

Kai Locksley sent out a tweet to Haskins (his good friend), shortly after the kid flipped, wishing him good luck and congratulating him on getting out of there (Maryland).  Said things were getting 'slimy'.  Clearly some bitter feelings between the Locksleys and Maryland.

What is frustrating is that the instant some of the hires were announced, an incredible number of people started wondering what the hell Charlie Strong was thinking. Watson is at the top of the list of suspect hires. Koenning was high on that list, also.

Charlie came from a situation that was great for his development of a coach, having Tom Jurich as his AD, to a nightmare scenario for any coach, having Steve Patterson as their AD, so it is absolutely not fair to place all of the football program's problems at his feet, but some of the problems absolutely are of his own making, predominantly in hiring staff for the offensive side of the ball.

I'm hoping this is going to be an opportunity for Traylor, Gilbert and Mattox to really start making things happen for the program. Thankfully, this happened before NSD, so we can get some instant feedback in the form of seeing how the change affects recruiting.

A good run into NSD will help the program a lot. Not only will it give us optimism the talent level is on the rise, but also for Charlie to vindicate that his recruiting strategy, one that is markedly different that what we have been used to for the past few decades and one that largely hasn't been embraced by the faithful, is a winning strategy. Charlie needs to start racking up examples of how his long term strategy of managing the program is a winning strategy. Let's hope NSD starts a very public vindication of his leadership.

I am trying to catch up on what I have missed from last night.  I cant spend all day keeping up with every post just check in at night.
About half of it is actual on topic related substance.
Charlie's methods have changed UT recruiting

They are pretty much the complete opposite methods of his predecessor.

And it appears it will remain this way as long as Strong is at Texas.

But it has been this way from the beginning.  The original internet UT Board (I think it was the ones connected to the AAS? or maybe it was Austin360?) started and grew because fans were hungry for recruiting news.  Same story for all schools, but since ours has been bigger for longer, there is more interest in our recruiting than probably anyone else's.  We are sort of like other people's schools on steroids.   Look at all the different paysites related to UT -- think of how many folks remain employed because of this phenomena.  It is amazing if you take a moment to consider that it is all primarily recruiting driven.  UT football recruiting is its own cottage industry.

But you guys should know this already.  Combine that^ history with Strong's do-everything-at-the-last-minute recruiting strategy and you should expect  to see hundreds of posts in the recruiting thread.  It is the nature of the beast.  You should not be surprised about it.  The same thing happens every year, it is just more intense now due to the way Strong does it --> Think of the rest of the year -- there was so very little going on recruiting-wise that UT fans were complaining about that at the time (now we have the opposite, people complaining that the fire hydrant was opened)

Look, it is alot, you guys are corret.  However, if all you want is a quick recruiting summary, then why not look Mike Roach's threads?

He is good.  He covers alot.  He offers insight.  He does it in much shorter, easier-to-read threads.  I wish he posted here.  I am guessing one reason his thread is separate as to serve as alternative to this thread.  Going there seems the simpler, more reasonable option for you than using up your valuable time to come here and write up posts complaining about the combined time and effort put into this thread by many different posters.  It's neither fair nor reasonable.

I personally like this thread.

DJax is already on 4 OVs

He did UCLA and FSU in Oct, Mich in Nov, and Gator last weekend.

Bama this weekend was his scheduled OV #5

So this weekend will show his cards
It will interesting to see if Alabama puts pressure on DJax to not come visit us again at all

The in-home last night also likely to be key

I like him and hope we get him.  I prefer alittle more beef in the middle and he played in HS close to 240

Still 3 things

(1) He supposedly has long been enamored with playing out of state

(2) His senior year did not really match up with expectations

(3) Higs has always insisted that, in order to land him, he needs to OV to Austin (but we will always have the Wheeler exception to this general rule)

The good news is that he visit the same time as his Elsik teammate Chris Brown.  So, perhaps this will end up like that crazy Hill/Boyd car trip of last season?

I think you missed the point of my post, Juan. I've been here for a long time now. Been very heavily involved in the recruiting threads for years now.

My comment was in regard to all of the off-topic bs inner-fighting taking up space on the pages.

Guilty as charged. I will do my best to refrain from that in the future.

Which is way more than the ShaggyTexas recruiting thread. Good lord, that thing is a mess! Well, except for the pictures of Kate Beckinsale throughout that thread :)
Man, ain't that the truth.

Everyone tends to be guilty of it at one time or another. Hopefully a good recruiting finish and an improved 2016 season will make people a little less....hostile.
