2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Note the closeness in time of Boyd and Hill's tweets.

Also perhaps worth noting is that both Hill and Boyd will get their OVs in prior to DBs Fields & Baker.

By the time Fields and Baker visit, we will know the status of Irvin.  By then, 2 open DB spots may have turned into 3.

Eberts on Boyd

The 2015 US Army All-American had previously planned to visit College Station that weekend, but has apparently changed his mind. An official visit to Baylor is scheduled for the 23rd. Boyd does not currently have any visits planned for the final weekend before National Signing Day, but Alabama could be in the mix after Boyd added the Crimson Tide to his final five and dropped the Horned Frogs recently.

Head coach Charlie Strong and his staff may have a chance to close with Boyd on the visit, as the consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 7 cornerback nationally by 247Sports and his younger brother Demarco, a 2016 linebacker, were spotted just before Christmas throwing the "hook 'em Horns" hand sign after Gilmer won a state championship

********

Interestingly enough, fellow Texas cornerback target Holton Hill announced his own intentions to visit on that weekend only minutes after Boyd.

Coincidence? Perhaps not.

Hey look, some more good news

this one might be one of those good ones to favorite, if you are willing and able ................................................ ^^^

I saw where we are only going to take one more RB. I hope that's wrong or that changes because I want both Chris Warren and Nick Brossette. Both are impressive tough running backs and high character guys.

I think it can still happen, or at least it is possible.  Things are fluid.

One more way to make it work besides having more schollie slots then we thought is that Kirk Johnson has the ability to spin to the slot.

When is jr day? Seems to be nearing with a few announcements of attendance.

One of the Junior Days is Feb 14

So far, the names we know for that date --
LB Jeffrey McCulloch of Aldine Davis
LB Dontavious Jackson of Alief Elsik
S Eric Monroe of North Shore

More good news to show our guys are still working it hard --

Scout says WR DaMarkus Lodge is coming for his OV this weekend (instead of aggy, Baylor or ou)

I am adding him to the running list above^

There are mixed opinions about Lodge out there

But I think he is a take, no doubt.  He is ~6'3, 190 and rated by some gurus as a 5-star

He will OV to Ole Miss (the CB leader at 48%) on Jan 23, and will have 1 more open OV spot left for the 30th

This is good news, indeed. Now we're looking at a choice of Lodge and Strickland. I'd take either and call it a huge success.

Interesting how Newsome hasn't eliminated us, but we've certainly stopped talking about him. I know why, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Higdon says not to expect any commits this coming weekend

At RB -- he thinks that, at the moment, we lead with all 3 (Warren, Brossette, Soso)

He doesnt think Brossette (and maybe Soso) will wait until NSD to announce (Brossette visits LSU on the 23rd, after us)

This could create an interesting situation with Warren since he plans to announce on NSD

No odds were given 8-)

More news -- 2016 QB -- unofficial visit

The 2016 QB class is loaded. It will be interesting to see if the staff focuses their attention on 1-2 guys after kids show their stuff at Junior Days.

With the staff having a narrower pool of talent to choose from, I expect to see them move quickly. There are going to be some talented kids that end up spread across the state & country a la Chase Daniel, Darron Thomas, etc.

Please explain....Irvin decommitting?

I believe that this close to signing day, with limited scholarships, and great players interested in those scholarships, Texas coaches are expecting players to honor their commitments.

Hook 'em!

Lodge is an absolute stud and there is not a school in the nation that wouldn't take him.

My understanding is it goes something like this, "Irvin get your  crap together or we will go after three other damn good DBs in Hill, Boyd and Fields." Three DBs who are rated higher than Irvin by the way. I don't think Strong is a guy that plays games.
Agree. Another factor could be the school involved is Auburn.
