The more I read about Hogan, I like what he brings to a team.Scipio on the potential QB transfers http://www.barkingcarnival.com/2015/1/5/7494663/the-2015-transfer-qb-lottery-the-candidates
Kevin Hogan - Stanford
While he hasn't yet announced formally for transfer, the Stanford graduate clashed withDavid Shaw over his conservative offense and had the unenviable task of replacingAndrew Luck - arguably the most gifted QB walking the planet. The rumor mill is running hard and fast that he wants out and would like a show case for his wares. While imperfect - and possessing a slow release that Shaun Watson could help him with - Hogan is a proven competitor with good athletic ability and a live arm. He has 48 touchdowns to 21 career interceptions, won a Rose Bowl, started 30+ games and has a career QB rating around 145. Yet people treat him as if he's chopped liver. He's not. He's also a sneaky running threat who isn't afraid of contact. He's an upgrade and wouldn't be particularly terrified taking a snap from under center in South Bend next year. He's roughly comparable to a sophomore David Ash, but with veteran experience. That's a significant upgrade from Swoopes. He could help us. Now forward him this post immediately and get the illegal contacts started.
It's publicly know that Hogan doesn't get along with the head coach. So why does Hogan transfer when he's the starter at Stanford?
Why does Sports Illustrated make such a big deal (and assumption) that Hogan had played his last game at Stanford?
Maybe someone at Si knows something we don't?
Yes, that would be our hope. Also, the hope that Hogan would want to learn from Watson because of his work with Teddy Bridgewater.I heard him and shaw have butted heads prior about his offense
We need tall and big body WRs, not 5'9" guys. You can't coach height. It won't surprise me if we only take 2 WRs in this class. A lot of chatter that we've already backed off Newsome. We took a crap ton of WRs last year and already have 2 WRs committed in the '16 class. Texas has more immediate needs IMO too. Texas will take another DB or RB over another WR. It will suck losing Burt because of his talent, but I'm not that upset about losing a WR.
If they indeed have backed off Newsome (and that's been my thought for the past few days), that means they've probably got something lined up with Strickland. I doubt Lodge makes his visit here.
I think there's at least one more WR in this class to come.
I would not be surprised to see both Brossette and Warren in this class.
Don't ask me how it's made to work (numbers). I gave up.
If you noticed the football field became part of the baseball field. It looked like they moved the portable fences around.Do they not have football stadiums in Maryland? Those highlights look like they were playing on a jr high field at a 1A school in Texas. Kid does have plenty athletic ability. I'll take him.
Poster named Lotus, I'm familiar with that person. Solid as a rock, and is indeed close friends with someone on staff. Don't want to say more.
Hook 'em!
Another poster on another site claiming to be in the know says one of our 3 CB targets is a "silent commit."
This might be a reference to Fields or might not be, it isnt specified.
Is there a limit on how many grey shirts a team can take per year? That could be another possibility for him. You can never have enough speed. That is the only way I could see him being involved with the Texas program.
Sorry if already answered but there was some talk about Clarington being able to qualify, but reports are that he will. I believe Gilbert Johnson still has to take the ACT and get a high enough score to qualify. Also there are some rumors that Ronnie Major may not qualify. Those are the only names I have heard so far.I'm curious how many recruits are in danger of not qualifying for Texas? I talked with a coach in Belleville, Illinois area who is close to Beckner Jr. out of East St. Louis and he said Beckner is probably going to have to go the JUCO route due to grades and ACT score (he supposedly scored very, very, very low on the ACT). Anyone in danger of not qualifying for the Horns?
Texas commits Jamile Johnson, Charles Ominehu & Cam Townsend will be playing for the West.
Prospects Holton Hill and Carlos Strickland are considering Texas.
Maybe he is hoping those two will steal some air time.[/quotel
