2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Sounds like a lot of unnecessary clicking of multiiple threads to get individualized info on a specific guy. I like the buffet style bombardment that the 2015 recruiting thread has been. One stop shopping for great updates. Another poster previously said he immediately went to this thread daily to best utilize the little time he had to be online, completely agree. But hey, can't reference my well spent $4.99 anymore!
The Administrators state that the “2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing†thread is to be locked on January 1st because “We've received feedback from many of you and listened to that feedback.â€

Perhaps the plan to lock the thread is also aligned with the announcement that on January 1st “HornSports is switching from a subscription-based revenue model to an advertising-based model.â€

Theoretically… locking the 2015 recruiting thread in lieu of separate threads on individual players could lead to more website pages, more page views, more ad views and therefore more ad revenue.

But, since the overwhelming viewer sentiment regarding the planned locking is in favor of keeping it open, perhaps the administrators have realized that it may be best to listen to their viewers… and locking the thread may actually lead to fewer page views… or having a combined recruiting thread, plus separate threads on high value individual players… might be a nice compromise.

I do know in business, it is usually good to listen to your customers (viewers).

However, I totally respect their decision either way… and am thankful that this site has so many willing contributors that behave in a respectful and helpful manner.

Hook ‘em  :)

I actually like this format better too.  Perhaps you can call me lazy but I also prefer reading everything I need to know about recruiting in one thread.  As I continue aging, clicking on multiple threads for recruits' too taxing for me.   ;)

But curiously enough the overwhelming feedback of the posters in this thread that actually contribute and participate in it aren't enough to be listened to.

This format you get the latest recruiting news on one thread and it can encompass a number of different recruits which creates more posts and interaction from the customer.  Separating threads will not achieve this.

Having a weekly catch-all thread in addition to threads on individual recruits is a plan based on that feedback?

Yet, they are NOT listening to the feedback they are receiving in this thread? That's curious. I find it hard to believe that more people would rather have all the individual threads than have it all in one thread. Color me skeptical.

They are not saying all individual threads. Have weekly versions of this thread, plus separate announcement threads. That way you get the best of both worlds. With the site moving to advertising based, they need to have more threads like that.

Here is some more info on Clarington

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- One of the highly rated prospects who will make an announcement at Saturday's US Army All-American Bowl is Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington tight end Devonaire Clarington.

"My dad and I talked about it and I decided that I want to decide at the game," he told SB Nation Recruiting on Monday. "I thought that I had it back in August and that's when I decided to break it down and just see how the season was going to go."

When the 6'5, 222-pounder makes his decision, he will have Florida, LSU, Miami, and Texas hats on the table.

Through much of his recruitment, Clarington was considered a lean towards the hometown Hurricanes. And, in fact, he may have been close to committing to head coach Al Golden and his program back in August when he thought he had his decision made.

Since then, Miami may not have helped itself much.

"I'm still seriously considering Miami, but they didn't hit me up for a while," he said.

Still, the history of tight ends at Miami is something that plays well with the nation's No. 4 player at the position, with New Orleans Saints star Jimmy Graham one of the players that Clarington cited.

Texas has been in close contact with the versatile tight end, as has LSU, but Florida has not been as active since the coaching changes, which could leave the Gators a distant fourth in his recruitment with only a few days until his decision.

Clarington said that he enjoyed the city of Austin when he took his official visit to Texas in November and that the coaching staff told him that they would use him in a variety of different ways offensively -- as an H-back in the back field, as an inside receiver, and at a more traditional tight end position, the same way his coaches are utilizing him at the Army Bowl.

That selling point for the Longhorns is something that Clarington found appealing.

I hope we have a TE coach who can actually scheme and implement some of those ideas bolded at the end.  Seems so long since we did.

There's not much of a point to it. If someone is a week behind on recruiting news chances are they've already missed pages of discussion and they are not going search the board through pages of multiple individual recruit threads to try to find it.

People that are interested in multiple targets and how they interact with each other can see it all in a thread like this. If they are interested in one person and are afraid too many recruits are being discussed at a time it's easy enough to type their name in the handy search bar and get every single reference to that individual that's every been made on this site and/or in the specific thread that they're viewing.

Maybe the compromise should be to enforce the weekly threads and individual thread per recruit after NSD.  I don't agree with shutting down a thread like this but if you guys are dead set on doing it despite the objection of a large portion of your members then its your site to run the way you see fit.

Per Tfloss at spurstalk

Something to keep an eye on...I was browsing the Scout board and there was a post asking about the status of RB Jordan Cronkrite from Palmetto Bay, FL. Anyway, a mod came on and said Texas will not have room if they land a certain surprise commitment in the next 24-36 hours.

Suggested he might be talking about Brossette

I would really prefer this Matt. My internet connection at home is atrocious, and there are times that I wait 2-3 minutes to connect on a thread. Old-fashioned dial-up was better. Insane.

I don't connect at work for professional reasons.

Thanks and Hook 'em!

Wow, I feel so much like a sheep today. Not quite as bad as being told what to post about or think about, but in the same vein no doubt.

I'm not real fired up about starting new threads every time we get something about a recruit.

And who's to say they won't lock those threads at some point? smh

Members spoke, why didn't it matter? It was said by a poster named HornSports that there were complaints (whoever it was, hand them a training bra, please). Then a large number of members have spoken to the contrary, but that doesn't matter?

it makes so much more sense to have all the recruiting on one thread like it is now. click on it and you can find out about 5 different players and different updates rather than having to click on 5 different threads. So much harder when i am at work.
