2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Here is some Westcott Eberts on Tim Irvin

"Not yet, I'm still talking to my family, friends, and my coaches about what I'll decide," said the 5'9, 186-pounder, who will choose between Florida, Miami, Texas, and West Virginia.

The coaches of his four remaining finalists only get one call per week per prospect during the current dead period, which will extend past Irvin's commitment at the Army Bowl, but he's also keeping up with each of them as he gets set to give his pledge.

Texas

The school that has been trending for Irvin recently in his 247Sports Crystal Ball is Texas, a program he visited back in November.

"it was very nice," irvin said. "The coaches and players took me in like I was their son and the city was really nice. The atmosphere and everything was different."

Irvin didn't have a previous relationship with current Texas linebacker commit Cecil Cherry before he took the trip, but the two connected when they took their official visits at Austin for the West Virginia game. While there, Cherry got Irvin's contact information and has stayed in touch with his fellow Florida prospect ever since.

The sales pitch from Cherry? Starting a Florida connection to Texas and winning a national championship together.

As for the Texas coaches, they tried to sell Irvin on contributing early in the nickel position that senior cornerback Quandre Diggs will vacate after the Texas Bowl. At times in Irvin's recruitment, it seemed as if the chance to play on offense could factor into his decision, but he said on Monday that each one of his finalists is recruiting him as a defensive back.

Consensus 4-star DB Davante Davis (6-2, 200) will announce on Thursday

Here is some highlight film -- he is aggressive (hits and tackles) and can play on the line of scrimmage or in coverage

Woah, hearing that chavis to aggy is pretty much a done deal. If true, that is a huge hire by them. Don't know how they pulled that off. Gotta wonder if this puts Daylon Mack back in play for them. I would imagine he was recruiting Mack to LSU.

I've seen one radio host in Louisiana report it.  Big hire if they get him, but haven't seen anyone legitimate report it yet.

Keep the updates coming guys. I have to head out of the country for about a week so it will be nice to come back and read this thread. It sounds promising with the Florida kids, hopefully I see good news when I return. Have a good rest of the Holidays.

Some stuff from MJ, Elliott, BurtBrossette and Richmond post-Pig-Slaughter Bowl

Most might think Jefferson, who signed scholarship papers and will enroll at Texas for the spring semester, would second-guess his decision to pick the Longhorns or that he might be distraught enough about the outcome to enroll elsewhere.

Not exactly.

“I wasn't too surprised,†Jefferson said. “People were hounding me, but I didn't care. It's a bowl game. That's what I expected honestly.â€

Texas is rebuilding under Strong and those choosing to be a part of the rebuilding process, like Jefferson and Elliott, have seen outcomes like the Texas Bowl already this year. Perhaps not to that extent, but Elliott's take on the game is similar to what many observers have theorized from the seven Longhorn defeats this season.

“The defense was good, we've just got to pick it up on offense,†Elliott said. “Once we get the offense figured out we'll be straight because the defense played good. If we get the offense, we'll be fine.â€

Jefferson echoed that sentiment.

“The defense did their best,†he said. “The offense did their best until the fumble in the end zone, and they were still trying. You've just got to have offense though.â€

Burt told 247Sports on Tuesday that he's concerned about the offense after the abomination that was on display Monday night.

“It seems they have more problems than them just losing receivers on offense,†Burt said Tuesday after Under Armour All-America Game practice at ESPN's Wide World of Sports. “It seems like like they have a lot of issues aside from losing two receivers.â€

On the other hand, two recruits headed to Southeastern Conference programs are intrigued by the chance to help Texas.

“It does,†Brossette said when asked if he's more intrigued by the chance for early reps at Texas based on the need for more offensive talent. “I think I can do big things on their offense.† Four-star LSU running back commit Nick Brossette has had a good week of practice and looks like a back who has the right combination of size and playmaking ability Texas needs offensively. Brossette feels like the Longhorns are young in a lot of spots offensively and did the best they could, but there's no question he'll be thinking about helping raise the talent level on the Forty Acres when he arrives on campus Jan. 16 for his official visit.

The Longhorns will have a ton of work to do and perhaps face and insurmountable task of trying to flip four-star Ole Miss offensive tackle commit Drew Richmond. But after watching the Texas offensive line and with Chris Vaughn having long ago sold Richmond on the fact that Texas needs tackles, the 6-foot-5-inch, 310-pound pure tackle prospect said it's “absolutely†appealing that the Longhorns have a desperate need for players at his position.

Richmond, who will visit Texas Jan. 30, has family in Dallas and likes what he's seen from Strong and the new regime.

“Their defense is really, really good, they just couldn't get much offense,†Richmond said when asked for his thoughts on the Arkansas loss. “But once they get some players there they'll be really good.â€

“We're two years away,†Jefferson said. “We've just to keep moving. We know what's going to happen.â€

That's good stuff from Jefferson and co. Let's hope the rumored Chavis addition to Aggy doesn't sway any of our guys.

Per Suchomel, Deshon Elliiot has been working Anthony Wheeler hard and feels confident that UT lands Wheeler.

Daylon Mack said he wasn't affected much by the Texas loss. Said Arkie is a good team that should have beat Bama and aggy. Mack told McComas that despite the loss, Texas is about to get some good defensive commitments. He had a grin on his face when he said that.

I really think that we are still going to have a stellar recruiting class. These recruits want to make it to the NFL and they know CS track record.

Ok that was a very sound statement by him....

SHA

I love you man, even if you're lying. 😉
That came from Suchomel, as I said. I am merely a vessel upon which info can flow to a designated thread. And my job just got interesting now that I know Utisdabomb is going on vacation this weekend.

Like Boyd and Mack?
I don't think 12/29/14 affects Mack as much bc i think he has eliminated Aggie after they way they talked about him when he de-committed. I do think Boyd and Hill would be affected if Chevis goes to aggieland. Not saying they would commit but it would influence those 2.

NBC Sports has reported that Braxton Miller has told Florida State that he would be interested in transferring to FSU. Florida State would take him.
