2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Very interesting. Probably reading too much into it but if we're both going ag his tweet wouldn't make sense

I fully expect Mack to switch to LSU before NSD.

That said, I feel a little better about our chances with MJ today than I did yesterday. Well, a lot better. I love moms.

Brian Jean-Mary was in North Carolina last week visiting South Carolina commit CB Mark Fields

Coach Rumph has a long pre-Texas relationship with Fields

We also visited LB Cecil Cherry of Lakeland, FL today

SHA,

I love Malik's mom, too.  The entire family has handled the recruiting process with dignity.  I certainly hope for the best for them all.  I love what Strong and his coaches are doing for Texas.

Hook 'em!

Wilkerson  talked to Malik's mom and she apparently said something along the lines of aggy isn't in the lead. I don't have a subscription at scout so that's second hand info, so take it as you will. Wilkerson is clearly one of the closest to Malik because he keeps getting interviews with Malik and his family.

Also 2nd hand but according to Scout - Malik's mom said A&M is not the leader and there is no leader.

Strong "needs to bring his A game this weekend"

Also, LSU isn't really a factor, but UCLA is making a nice impression on him

And said she'd be "surprised" if Malik sticks to his December 19th timeline because he has a lot to figure out

I think Malik's parents are going to play a huge role in this decision, which is why I've always leaned Texas. Based on what I've read Mama Jefferson is also coming to Austin this weekend.

From the San Jose Mercury News:

Local sports digest: Kearns decommits from SMUBay Area News Group

POSTED:   12/04/2014 06:29:11 PM PST0 COMMENTS| UPDATED:   ABOUT 3 HOURS AGO

Foothill High star quarterback Kyle Kearns announced on Twitter that he decommitted from SMU and would be opening up his recruitment.

Kearns thanked "all the coaches at SMU who've recruited me over the past year" and wished the new staff the best of luck.

Former Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris was named SMU's head coach this week. June Jones, who had been at SMU since 2008, resigned after the Mustangs' second game and Jones' top assistant served as interim head coach the rest of this season.

On June 3, Kearns announced that he had orally committed to SMU. He had also taken unofficial visits to Colorado, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Cal and Stanford.

In 10 regular-season games this season, the senior completed 137 of 197 passes for 2,016 yards, 26 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

According to one of the services, the dad said that if Malik hadnt decided by his deadline (Dec 19), the parents would for him.

That was back in Nov, so maybe not still true, if it ever really was.

Nonetheless, if he plans on enrolling early, he can only push it back so long.

This is kind of strange to me. I mean if he still has those options, then it makes sense. But if those schools have moved on past his recruitment, Morris isn't a bad guy to learn QB from.

FWIW - From 247 site - a couple of recruits reactions to the Beatty news:

From the 247Sports A&M site as they relate to recruits Texas is in on:

Mesquite Poteet ATH DeAndre McNeal - "I'm devastated"

Cy-Ride WR Kemah Siverand - "Wow. I don't know what to say."

It should be noted that Kemah has already reaffirmed his commitment to Aggie-dom.  This can only help us with McNeal.

Didnt realize Beaty was getting hired by Kansas.  Since he is the teams recruiting coordinator maybe this will help Texas recruiting efforts.

Certainly can't hurt - he was a hell of a recruiter for Sumlin, and it should have some impact on kids they were recruiting for 2015.

He did an in-home visit with DeAndre McNeal last night.

SHA's predictions

1. We will not have anyone commit over the weekend. But it is a huge weekend.

2. Newsome is a Horn, brings a Daje type game but with better hands.

3. Clark is the answer at TE. The kid from Florida will not end up working out, IMO.

4. The chances of Sosa and Warren ending up in burnt orange are not good. One or the other, yes, but not both, IMO. If I were betting, I'd say Warren but only because we've been on him for so long.

5. IMO, Kirkland will be a Horn. I think I heard that Steve Edmond will be his host. Edmond loves this staff and has some stark things to say about that. Kirkland is a spring semester enrollee, I think.

6. When it's all said and done, the MVP of this class may very well be Ronnie Buck Major from Huntsville. After four years at Texas, that is what we'll be saying. This class will be so good, that will be a big statement.

7. Deshon Elliott and Jason Hall are going to be one of our best safety duos ever.

8. Cecil Cherry is a Horn.

9. There will be at least two more Florida boys coming.

10. This LB class has the potential to be one of our best ever.

The next month will be more exciting that the previous 8 months, combined, IMO.
