2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Florida TE Devonaire Clarington has some transcript issues.

He has been enrolled in 4 different high schools, and is transferring back to his original school (Miami Southridge) trying to get it all straightened out.

The rumor is that UT is his choice, but this transcript issue is fouling the water.

According to Eric Nahlin, Malik Jefferson asked his mom if it was OK with her if he signed with UCLA.

She gave her blessing.

Malik visits UCLA next weekend.

Hope he can get it worked out. Would be crazy to think we could get both him and Clark.

Eh?  He hasnt even visited UCLA yet?

Yep.

Also, this conversation (Nahlin/MJ) purportedly took place last night.

Maybe he was simply giving an honest answer to the question that was put to him (in a string of questions)?

Or, maybe he was actually thinking about UCLA as he is heading into his Texas OV.

This was supposedly told to Nahlin last night before MJs visit. I really hope Stong and company are bringing there A game.

Sounds like MJ may be looking for a compromise way out of aggy. Perhaps he figures it would be easier for Stumblin to stomach UCLA instead of us.I hope after he spends a day with strong he will have no problem telling Stumblin to suck it.

If MJ does go to UCLA maybe the ags will move to California as well.

The LHN Studio makes for a decent recruiting prop.

According to Scout, the one question Malik Jefferson was anxious to ask Strong this weekend is why he hasn't been his lead recruiter.

I hope Strong straight up tells him because he isn't the LB coach, and our LB coach knows what's best at LB.

The only reason Sumlin is the lead recruiter is because their LB coach/defensive coordinator are atrocious (I hope Strong actually says that). That's part of the reason A&M is so bad on defense. They have position coaches recruiting players out of position. Sumlin should not be recruiting defensive players, he has no clue what he's doing on that side of the ball.

I completely agree with Strong letting BJM be the lead recruiter. He's our LB coach and he knows what's best. If he can't close that's on him, but you want your position coaches recruiting at their actual position. Nothing annoys me more than seeing a WR coach recruiting a LB or DE simply because he's known in a certain area. I want the coach that actually coaches the position to be the lead recruiter (IMO it's a big reason why A&M is so bad on defense).

Maybe Strong should respond . . ."Showing up in a helicopter doesn't make me think you're more or less of a LB than you really are. My team comes first during the season. When you play for me, you'll get 100% me."

If that is true... sounds like he has issues and a little cocky¿ but what do I know¿
When other head coaches are your designated recruiter and that's not the case at one school, you'd wonder why. Simple question, really. I'm sure Coach Strong will give him a solid explanation.

Also, he isn't a recruit that's going to accept money from a booster. That's not the way he was raised. We're running a feature story on him this week - hopefully it leaves y'all with a better understanding of his character.
