2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Some more on Vasser from BON --

A consensus three-star prospect rated at 88 by 247Sports, Vasser is the No. 3 strongside defensive end in the JUCO ranks, the No. 4 junior college player in Texas, and the No. 36 junior college player nationally according to the same service. The Composite rankings have him a bit lower.

The commitment to Georgia back in the spring has likely reduced his offer list -- his only other offer is from Kentucky -- but he could be a critical piece to a 2015 class that doesn't have a strongside defensive end in it and few other options available.

With Cedric Reed graduating, the Horns need an instant-impact player since after taking only one defensive end in the 2014 class and missing on the position in 2013, though redshirt freshman Naashon Hughes has moved into the hybrid Fox role.

And while junior Shiro Davis and sophomore Caleb Bluiett could step into that role, the fact that both have lost playing time this year to Hughes provides some perspective on how the coaches feel about the two former players.

Vasser has a nice blend of qualities that could help him play early with the benefit of spring practice. He played some as a 3-4 defensive end for Navarro, so he already has experience playing in the same position that Reed has in recent weeks as Texas has predominantly gone with a three-man line.

Strong at the point of attack, Vasser would be the first true strongside defensive end take for Texas since Reed -- sophomore Hassan Ridgeway quickly grew into a defensive tackle, while redshirting freshman Jake McMillon moved to defensive tackle and then offensive guard within the first several months of his Longhorns career.

Not up on my twitterese, is that McNeal poking fun at the ags guy for prior preemptive messages or is McNeal letting this guy assist him? Call me ignorant, just trying to clear my head of any pro aggie crap.
Recruits develop a relationship with certain guys that cover recruiting. Really doesn't mean a thing.

Kris Boyd goes through Justin Wells over at IT for almost everything. Malik Jefferson goes through Wilkerson over at HornsDigest for most things.

People read entirely too much into twitter. Kids develop relationships with guys they feel most comfortable with in recruiting. When Boyd and Jefferson ask someone like Wilkerson/Wells to tweet something it really means nothing, just like it doesn't mean much of anything for McNeal.

Maybe these guys are splitting their commissions with the recruits they follow...wait, only in SEC country is this allowed for IT sports guys.

John Burt saying he will make his decision on NSD.
Really hate the NSD announcement thing. If they really know where they want to go make the commit. If they do know and wait on the announcement it might take a scholarship opportunity away from a player. That player might want to go to a school that holds a scholly for a player who doesn't commit or decommits and the option is either gone or they commit to another school. To each their own, but please ban the hat selection crap we are subjected to every year.
