Here is some comments from and about
Cameron Townsend from IT

His father stated, “We missed enrolling early by two classes. Started too late on that. It’s okay, we’ll get the workout from coach Pat Moorer and I’ll get him a personal trainer. We expect him to be physically ready to play next year.â€
"As hard as he works, Cameron will have to push himself like never before. At 6-foot-0, 200 pounds, he’ll need to add 15 pounds by next August. Certainly not impossible, but lean frames are harder to add weight. When I say lean, I mean lean. He was measured at 7% body fat when he visited Oregon State. The good news is, the weight Townsend has is highly functional. Combine his natural body control with his suddenness and aggression and you have a player who could potentially become a difference maker. Maybe even one like Oklahoma’s Eric Striker (6-foot-0, 195 lbs in high school, 220 now), a player he’s similar to in how he’s used within the scheme."
Inside Texas: Everybody thought UT was your leader for a long time but after talking to your father the last couple of months, it sounds like OU became a factor as well.
Cameron Townsend: I was thinking it was Texas for a while, but I still wanted to take my Oregon State and Oklahoma official visits just in case I saw something that knocked my socks off. When I went to Oklahoma, I will say that it almost swayed me the other way, connecting with the players that are there and being with the coaches. I did really enjoy myself at Oklahoma so I actually was pretty close to changing my mind. But at the end, I just felt like since I had liked Texas for so long, I felt like I couldn’t go wrong with either one, so I went with what my gut said and that’s why I chose Texas.
IT: What do you think about Charlie Strong and that defense and how do you see yourself in that defense?
CT: Well they’re recruiting me to play where Jordan Hicks plays, that WILL spot, so I feel like I can go there and be a big part of the defense. I would say I have to gain a little bit of weight before I can take on some fullbacks and stuff like that, but I think I’ll be alright and definitely be able to go sideline-to-sideline with those guys and still beef it up in the middle too.
IT: I don’t know if it’s those Jordan’s you’re standing in now but you look a bit taller. What’s your size and weight right now?
CT: I’m about 6-foot-0 (he’s 6-foot-1 in those shoes) and 200 lbs, on a good day maybe 205 (most of y’all would call that a terrible day).
IT: You’re known for being in good shape and your dad tells me you want to get into Strength and Conditioning after playing. What have you learned from (Texas S&C Coach) Pat Moorer that you can apply and what do you like about coach Moorer?
CT: What I like about him is he’s old school. He’s not big on supplements and stuff like that, which I think is cool because I do enjoy eating good foods that help you and are the supplements themselves. Eating right makes me feel good about myself, which makes me feel better on the field and helps me play better. That’s something I really like about coach Moorer.
