I know it's early but I'm just thinking to myself. This is who I think the starters will be.

QB: Heard
RB: Gray
WR: M. Johnson
WR: A. Foreman
WR: Joe
OT: Hodges
OT: Harrison
OG: Flowers
OG: Perkins
C: Doyle
TE: McFarland

QBs: It almost has to be Heard or a transfer. Swoopes isn't the guy and Gentry won't be ready. IMO Texas will make a play for a transfer QB.

RBs: I'm actually not worried about RB. Gray is a good RB if you give him an offensive line that's decent. I was really impressed with D'onta Foreman. It wouldn't surprise me if Foreman becomes a focal point of the offense, he's the physical type back that Strong loves. Throw in Catalon and possibly Warren, I like that RB rotation next year.

WR: WR is interesting. Daje just isn't a WR. Matter of fact, I think we should move him back to RB where he got most of his touches his FR year. Warrick is a freak athlete but the dude hasn't done a thing so far on campus. IMO the best 3 options at WR are Joe, Foreman and Marcus Johnson. We've actually stockpiled some decent WRs in recent years with Warrick, Foreman, Joe, Gray, Bernard and Oliver. Now it's a matter of developing them. We really need a WR like Newsome, that's a critical recruit that Strong needs to land (he can be a big play and possession type WR). I actually think Newsome is a more critical need at WR than say someone like Burt.

OL: We will finally have some depth and experience next year. Unless Hutchins and Hughes are drastically improved they shouldn't be starting. I actually think Perkins and Flowers have some talent at guard. I also thought Doyle did a fairly decent job at center. Changes need to be made at the tackle position.

TE: Unless Whiteley or Beck show some serious flashes I think the best option is McFarland. He's experienced and a good blocker (he can't catch to save his life but it's the best option). Maybe someone like Clarington can come in and produce as a FR, but I doubt it. It takes time to develop TEs.

FB: De La Torre is a beast and should honestly be utilized more next year. Dude knows how to block.

DE: Davis
DE: Hughes
NT: Ridgeway
DT: Jackson
LB: Jinkens
LB: Jefferson
LB: Santos
S: Colbert
S: Hall
CB: Thomas
CB/NB: Roberts

Defensive line: We will most likely lose Reed and Brown, but there's no reason the defensive line shouldn't be good next year. Davis, Hughes, Ridgeway,Jackson, Boyette, Bluiett, Ford, Nelson, Roberson, and Vasser. If you can't get it done with that much talent there's not much to say. The defensive line is the least of my worries.

LB: I'm not as low as others are on Santos, but I could sees someone like Freeman end up being the 3rd LBer with Jinkens and Jefferson (granted we might have to do a little bit of shuffling). I'm a little nervous to have so much youth with Freeman and Jefferson together, but they are probably our two most talented LBers. I still think Santos has potential if he drops a few pounds. The LBer position scares me. Freeman and Jefferson are talented as hell, but they are young. Which is why I tend to believe Santos will be given a chance to start at MLB because he has some experience.

DBs: I'm actually not all that worried about the secondary. Duke was very good this year and Hall was damn good until his injury. Colbert has entirely too much talent to not be a starter, but he makes boneheaded plays that seem to piss off Strong. I could see Haines still at the other safety position, but Colbert just has too much talent to not be a starter. The only thing that scares me about the secondary is depth but some of these FR in our recruiting class can fill some needs depth wise.

Jacorey Warrick will be a huge asset to the offense next year and he will see more playing time - not just in the slot.  You saw him used more tonight than he's been used in any other game.

True. I'm not worried about WR, there's enough talent there IMO.

I think you'll see a freshman or two get some opportunities next year. IMO, the talent coming in is pretty exciting and will command some playing time.

Utisdabomb – believe it or not, I change out Gray with Catalon on your list.

I think you'll see a lot of freshmen take the field next year on both sides of the ball. Also, don't count out Texas getting Kai Locksley. If I'm any QB with hopes of early PT, I look at Texas.

After waking up from a horrible night of sleep, I can't help but be excited for what is ahead for this program. This season coming up will be a step closer to having a football program that doesn't have any Mack brown leftovers, don't get me wrong there are some good players from his time here but they didn't even start their development process till this year. Look at Harris, who was a stud this year after only 9 catches from previous years. I really do like Haines but how in the hell do you have a walkon come in and beat out a position group of scholarship players, we are Texas not freaking some D2 school. And finally swoops is a proven point that this was the FIRST season some of these players started the development process...... We will have a young team these next TWO years but they will resemble an University of Texas football team. Last point I still think we are going to finish out this recruiting class with a few more amazing surprises.

If Heard cannot pass Swoopes on the depth chart next year, then you might as well pull his scholly. Not really but good gosh he only has to be better than terrible in order to pass Swoopes.

If more than 3 of this year's OL are starters next year, then we are in trouble. And that number should probably be 2. Next year, if you are a tackle and can't beat out the 2 tackles we started this year then you probably need to give up football. I'll give true freshmen a break on that statement but that's it.

I think by mid season there will be several true freshmen starting. That is how bad we are right now. All 3 linebackers we have committed are potentially much better than the returners. Same goes for DBs.

Freshmen OLs will get to play a lot, and I suspect RBs and WRs will as well.

The best recruiting pitch we have is early playing time. That is how bare the cupboard Strong inherited was.

What an opportunity for and incoming freshman!

Aside from OL, there isn't a position an incoming player shouldn't replace both offense and defense.

Even our DL isn't that good that a kid as good as say OU's Tommie Harris, coming out of HS, shouldn't take their place.

OL takes a lot of time to develop, so figure JUCOs are our only hope there.

DBs are terrible, so Freshman DBs worth their salt can easily take their place...especially Duke " I smell like burnt toast " Thomas.

I remember Fred Akers started about three Freshmen in the secondary one year.

WRs....We started BJ Johnson, Thomas, and Williams as Freshmen a while back.

I'd like to see 22 new starters next season. We are that bad.

As I'm watching the LSU Notre Dame game Everett Golson's name is being thrown around as a possible transfer. Another possibility for CS and co to pursue this offseason. Has immediate eligibility

Oliver is planning to transfer unless things have changed on that front within the last two weeks. DL will be the strength of the team and youth will be the trend across most of the roster. I believe year 3 will be the true test to see if Strong is the guy.

Watson needs to figure out what Heard can do good, then develop an offense around those strengths.  He's paid plenty to be an offensive coordinator. That means using your head to develop a cohesive bunch of plays that utilize the strengths of your players.

Watson is in serious GDGD mode in my mind.  Only a moron would try to pound square blocks into round holes like Watson is apparently determined to do.

I agree with the original post depth chart predictions^^^ I think the even bigger variable will be what our offense will look like schematically/playcall wise. I think with that listed offensive depth chart, our coaches ability to tweak and change the system to one that will allow Heard (or whoever the QB ends up being, hopefully Heard) to flourish and excel will be the deciding make it or break it factor with our offense this year. I personally hope they install more of a spread and allow Heard to run the ball more than Swoopes did (i.e. Vince Young).

I love the talent that this recruiting class is bringing in, and we know after seeing this years defense and the defense of past Charlie Strong teams we will just be depending on the offense again next year. Best case scenario: Heard steps up and becomes our Quarterback for the next 3 years to finally bring stability, production, and leadership back to the QB position at Texas.

Cheers to 2015
