Ok, so Im going to move forward in the draft with my teams FA signings and losses in mind. That means that Miami just got Brandon Albert (OT), Arizona got Veldheer (OT), Cleveland got Whitner (SS), lost Ward (SS), got Dansby (ILB).
Nope. The Bills have Albert because I traded for him. Real rosters froze when we started and whats going on in real life FA has no bearing here. lol

While I don't much care about Miami since Im only GMing them out of necessity, we never stated that rosters froze at the start of this. You should have known better than to trade for a FA since KC had no control over Albert. Feel free to assume that Buffalo did a sign and trade for for Albert but Im still drafting the rest of the way with real world FA signings in mind. It's silly not too.

Easy, killer. We are having a mock draft, meaning it's draft day. Every player you listed is on another team and those teams haven't been drafting thinking they had holes there. This is the way GM Mocks are ran. This isn't my first rodeo.

Neither is it mine. Most of them simply disallow the trading of players to avoid this issue. And for the record, no I doubt that other GM's have been drafting thinking they were going to resign every one of their UFA's, that would be ridiculous to do so. You're telling me Blake drafted Zack Martin in the first round because he thought Saffold was coming back to the Rams?

I've never been in a GM Mock that took into account real-world free agency in the middle of the draft. I've never seen one run that way. If free agency is involved, it generally takes place in a mock period before the draft is started, where all UFAs are pooled and are bid on, and teams choose which RFAs are resigned (and salary cap is tracked). It's impossible to effectively plan a successful mock-draft any other way. You can take in to account what players you may lose in FA, but not which ones you might gain.

For example, lets say that Andrew Luck is an UFA. Your team needs a QB, so you trade up and take Bridgewater, giving up several early-round picks in your draft. Then unexpectedly, the team you're drafting with signs Luck and all of the sudden, you have both Bridgewater and Luck, with no draft to speak of after that. How does that make sense? This is a draft simulation and the most realistic way to do it is to either mock-sign FAs beforehand, or play with the hand you're dealt.

Villain you realize that you are arguing with me on my draft method, correct? If I choose to take into account real world FA signings which are going on during this draft, that's my business. You can draft any way you please. For my part, those FA signings save me the trouble of specifying FA targets for my teams to go after post draft.

It's not just your draft method. It affects everyone. You said you didn't care about the Dolphins, so I could pretend I did a sign and trade, but what if the people who had those other FAs wanted the same thing? Would it only count for me?

Also, Agmaniacmike owns the Eagles and the Saints here. He approached me about a trade and I accepted, giving the Eagles Jairus Byrd. In real life, the Saints have signed him. Which team gets him? If we allow real-world FA to count here, it breaks the draft.

Edit: What you said in the other thread:

Realistically, you shouldn't have to. At it's simplest form, you really should only have to look at your team's needs/roster and draft to fill those holes to your liking. The salary cap/economics/FA signings really shouldn't come into play since they are impossible to control.
Just saying.

I've got to go with Villian. Feel free to use your free agents as trade bait. IMO, if a player is traded then they are voided from the FA market, otherwise whatever happens in free agency is fair game for all entities not traded. Toe honest, we should have waited until the majority of FA signings were done, but I'm still having fun regardless.

With that being said, the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Bucs have reached a deal.

New Orleans gets: CB Darrelle Revis

Tampa Bay gets: 2014 3rd round pick

2015 4th round pick

Fair enough guys. I'll play it your way and assume the rosters are frozen as of last week. Of course if we can't get GMs to start making their picks, we may be closing up shop pretty quickly here.

True. Hopefully tomorrow will have more activity.

I am actually an advocate for FA affecting the draft, but I think that if a player is traded, then whatever happens in the real world free agency is void. Hence, why the Jairus Byrd trade and Revis trade happened. It was a given that they wouldn't re-sign so they opted to trade them away rather than losing all value once they left in free agency, etc. However, I don't know how to reconcile real-life trades involving draft picks (Blaine Gabbert and Jonathan Martin).

You still would have the issue of someone either going rounds not drafting a need they don't see coming or drafting for needs unexpectedly filled by the team. Also, I traded both Byrd and Revis to you, but not at all because I thought I would lose all value once they left. I told you in the our messages that I was initially unmotivated to trade Revis because I would just assume that he took a paycut to stay with the team if need be. I only changed my mind when I realized the Bucs didn't have a third (as I mentioned to you), and I wanted to have a pick that round.

Wanted to wait a little to give the Bungles a chance to draft but to get this thing moving:

With the 53rd Overall Pick in the 2014 Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select:

Position: Cornerback/Strong Safety

Name: Lamarcus Joyner

School: Florida State University

After trading away Kam Chancellor for the ultra talented Sammy Watkins, the Seahawks have found an aggressive, punishing defensive back who can play not only safety but nickel back. A vital member of the national champion Florida State defense, the versatile, instinctive Joyner is one of the, if not best, pound for pound defenders in the draft.

With the 57rd Overall Pick in the 2014 Draft, the San Diego Chargers select:

Position: Cornerback

Name: Marcus Roberson

School: Florida

The chargers need to come out of this draft with CB depth and maybe even two starters. After taking Verrett in the first round and the addition of Roberson they may have done just that.

I almost took Roberson if the first so Im thrilled he is still here to take in the mid to late second.

The New Orleans Saints select:

Deone Bucannon

SS

Washington State

After trading for Revis, the Saints go with more help in the secondary to go along with Malcolm Jenkins and Kenny Vaccarro.

With the 60th Overall Pick in the 2014 Draft, the Carolina Panthers select:

Position: WR

Name: Jordan Matthews

School: Vanderbilt

With Steve Smith aging and a good Panthers team really needing wideouts to help SuperCam out, the Panthers run to the podium to select the one that could end up being the best of all WRs' selected in 2014.
