I thought he should have got the DPOY as well for the Big 12, but unfortunately when the team is down recognition is generally down as well.

Also easy to see why we had a rough year on offense this year.

Big 12 Coach's Team is out also. From UT...

Ten Longhorns earn All-Big 12 recognition from coaches
Malcom Brown secures first-team honors; Malcolm Brown, Harris, Hicks and Reed on the second team

Junior DT Malcom Brown led a group of 10 Texas football players who earned All-Big 12 recognition from the league’s coaches

Brown secured a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team, while RB Malcolm Brown, CB Quandre Diggs, LB Jordan Hicks and DE Cedric Reed, all seniors, landed on the second team.

Malcom Brown (as defensive lineman of the year), LB Steve Edmond, WR John Harris, S Dylan Haines, WR Jaxon Shipley and CB Duke Thomas earned honorable mention nods.

Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.

On Monday, Malcom Brown was named first-team All-Big 12 by The Associated Press while Diggs, Harris, Hicks and Reed earned spots on the second team.

Brown leads the team in tackles for loss (14) and sacks (6.5), and is tied for first with six quarterback pressures. A finalist for both the Nagurski Trophy (nation’s best defensive player) and Outland Trophy (top interior lineman in the country), his sack total leads all league defensive tackles.

He is the third Longhorn defensive tackle to claim first-team All-Big 12 honors from both the AP and coaches in the same season, joining Rodrique Wright (2005) and Casey Hampton (1999, 2000). Roy Miller (2008) was the last UT defensive tackle to claim first-team All-Big 12 honors from the coaches. Wright (2005) was the last one to earn a spot on the AP’s first team.

Malcolm Brown, a second-team choice by the coaches last season, leads the team in rushing yards (683) and has six scores on the ground. He ranks 11th on the school’s career rushing yards list (2,653).

Hicks, a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award as the country’s best defensive player, leads the team in tackles (138), ranks second in tackles for loss (13) and tied for fifth in sacks (3.5).

A 2011 second-team All-Big 12 choice by the coaches, Diggs is fourth on the team in tackles (68) and has posted three interceptions and five pass breakups. He ranks tied for ninth on the school’s career interceptions list (11) and tied for 10th in pass breakups (36).

Reed is a second-team all-league pick by the coaches for the second-straight season. He ranks third on the team in sacks (5.5), tied for fourth in tackles for loss (10) and tied for sixth (with Brown) in tackles with 64.

An honorable mention all-league selection last season by the coaches, Edmond, a senior, ranks second on the team in tackles (122). Shipley, an honorable mention selection all four seasons, is second on the team in receptions (58) and ranks eighth in the Big 12 (5.3 per game).

Haines, a sophomore in his first season as a starter, leads the team in interceptions with four. A two-year starter, Thomas is tied for seventh in the Big 12 in passes defended (1.08 pg).

Harris has had a breakout senior season. He has recorded 64 catches for 1,015 yards and seven touchdowns this year. He ranks fifth in the Big 12 in receiving yards (84.6 pg). His receiving yards total ranks eighth on the UT single-season list, while his receptions are tied for eighth.
