A question for the old-timers that remember: Who was better of these one-loss teams: 1971 Oklahoma or 1983 Nebraska?

Opponents averaged 9 points a game against our defense. Our one loss was flukey - as Georgia crossed the 50 yardline twice and totaled a massive 150 yards of offense that day.Seriously....I doubt there has ever been a better one loss team than the 83 Horns.
Robert Brewer... class act! Came and spoke to our Fellowship of Christian Athletes group when I was in high school. Good QB... better man.If Robert Brewer had one more season of eligibility, The 83 Horns would have won a natty.
freaky is right. As I remember our punt returner had to twist around and try to catch that punt off balance......had he just let it hit the ground and roll where ever it wanted to, we win that game.Opponents averaged 9 points a game against our defense. Yep.... Nobody thought they would really punt, so it was our safety that just dropped back. Georgia was, in essense, surrendering the game.freaky is right. I believe it was Craig Curry who muffed the punt. I also believe Rick McIvor was auditioning for the NFL. He had no touch on the ball and was throwing bullets to wide open backs/receivers just past the LOS. Put a little touch on the ball and we blow them out.freaky is right. I was at the game. I thought for sure we were going to win a national championship that day...up until a couple of minutes left in the game.
McIvor did that pretty much for his entire career. He only had a fastball and a fasterball.I believe it was Craig Curry who muffed the punt. I also believe Rick McIvor was auditioning for the NFL. That team only averaged 25.5 points per game and had three one-score victories over unranked teams (Houston, TCU and Baylor) not to mention losing to seventh-ranked Georgia by one point. Over romanticizing that team?Seriously....I doubt there has ever been a better one loss team than the 83 Horns.
Not a bit....that team was predicated on defense. That team only averaged 25.5 points per game and had three one-score victories over unranked teams (Houston, TCU and Baylor) not to mention losing to seventh-ranked Georgia by one point. Over romanticizing that team?
Please don't don't feed the trolls. Not a bit....that team was predicated on defense.
