High School Football thread

Watchinig North Crowley host Lancaster. Lancaster is winning 10-8 in the 3rd

Turntine is legit. He's facing a big athletic end and is winning pretty badly right now.

Lancaster, in their first year in Class 6A ball, is beating the defending state 6A champs North Crowley, 18-15 midway in the 4th.

NC just fumbled on the Lancaster 1 yd line.

Speaking of humorous high school stories, I remember this from decades ago. I was at a high school booster's club when they had a guest speaker. I wish I could write this as funny as the speaker told the story, but I think you will get the gist of what happened.

The guest speaker was president of a local officials chapter. He was asked about the most unusual penalty he had ever given. He smiled and said that's easy. He said years ago he was officiating a game at Mexia. In those years Mexia had strong teams and tradition. At halftime the visiting team's band marched and came off the field. Mexia had hired a new band director. He led the band onto the field. They matched up and down the field. He said the band director, with his baton, was really getting into it. As he marched by, he (referee) pointed to his watch telling him to wrap it up. The band kept matching. Both football teams had made their way back to the sidelines. As the band made its way back, the referee told him, "Time is up. You need to get off the field." The band kept matching. As the band made its way back the referee told him to get off the field. The band kept matching. The referee blew his wrist and threw a flag. The Mexia head coach ran on the field and chased the band director and the band of the field. He said that was a sight. But things got more interesting. When Mexia lined up to kick, he marked off 5 yards for delay of game. The Mexia coach asked him if he was serious. He told him yes. He said the Mexia coach went crazy and promised they will never have a problem with the band again.

Back in the late 60s when Daingerfield was a state champion, DF needed to schedule a game with another team but found no takers. There was a vacancy in the schedule. Finally, Mexia accepted an offer to play Daingerfield, at Mexia. That's almost 4 hr drive, one way.

Daingerfield won state, but lost that pre-district game to Mexia 7-6.

Years later, I was hired to redesign the little Mexia newspaper there. I met the publisher there, who was the biggest Black Cat homer you ever met. I couldn't even get him to talk about Anna Nicole Smith, who was from there. lol

I saw him and his teams a few times. Every time, most disciplined team. They didn't make mistakes. Moore wasn't a complicated coach, not at all. Very simple. Very effective.
I watch Celina and Coach Moore beat a very talented Mart team for a state championship. Simple, disciplined and hard hitting.

Duncanville 35
South Oak Cliff 28

Duncanville jumped out ahead 28-7. SOC rallied to make it close. SOC freshmen and JV beat Duncanville.

When the hell was the last time Euless Trinity was in the top 25?
Per Google (at one time):
2024-2025 Season: Ranked No. 14 in Class 6A by Dave Campbell's Texas Football.

Before that, it appeared it has been a while.

Mongo don't know. Mongo only pawn in game of life.

Or Lewisville. I may have to go catch a game. The opener was broadcast here in DFW, a win over Byron Nelson.

There are a lot of good match ups this week. Did you notice?
