All the more importance to go for the throats on 3rd and 9 instead of settling for a run to get a few yards for a fg. Be aggressive there and you could run the clock out and kick the fg for the win instead of hoping.

Now I am for Sark and I think he is the right coach but if you want to beat a top team you have to go for the 1st down there.
It was a tough call on 3rd down. If the run came up short, at least the ball was well-positioned for the FG and the clock wouldn't stop on an incompletion. The D had actually been playing well so it wasn't unreasonable to expect them to prevent a TD with only 75 seconds on the clock and no timeouts. On the other hand, QE had something like 20+ straight completions at that point so throwing wasn't necessarily all that risky. I honestly thought the D could prevent a TD, but ou executed when they had to.

The big key there is he was hot and in a rhythm. Yes the defense was okay at that point. But ou offense is at its best with tempo and the 2 min offense puts them in a rhythm automatically. Texas offense had those seams open all the 4th quarter. Just needed to end it there so Gabriel did not have a chance.

Ewers was on a roll at the time having completed something like 21 of his last 22. I would’ve went for the first down too. Running the ball said we settled for a FG in my book

Why decide to lean on the defense before you attempt a play. Choosing to run on 3rd and 9 said play for FG.

Hadn't Brooks just broken loose for a 30+ yard TD run? I think Sark's decision was the most likely to succeed, but it wasn't clearcut for sure. I wouldn't have criticized him for trying to throw for a first down instead.

Now that I've accepted the loss and moved on, I've realized that everything is still out in front of them. 10-2 was my prediction for this year, but I got caught up in the hype and was dreaming of 12-0. Well, that reality is gone, but 10-2 is still there. In fact, 11-1 is there and obtainable. I don't see anyone on the remaining schedule that can match this team.

Hopefully this loss is humbling and puts a fire into this group knowing they have something to prove. Adversity is a good thing and this is adversity for them. Take the next two weeks to get healthy, refocused and come out hungry from here on out.

I will never understand how or why someone watching the game thinks he is better qualified to call the plays than the coach. Frankly, you have no clue what personel are available or even what the players and coaching staff are discussing. The hubris amazes me.....not to mention that whatever you may have riding on the outcome pales in comparison to those on the field

This x 100. Thank you!

Had Brooks broke the run, it's a brilliant call. Had QE passes and it's incomplete or intercepted, then what was the coach thinking? All of those discussions are null had Texas played defense for the last minute plus.

It doesn't matter. No matter what call he made it will always be wrong in the eyes of some. You make the call at the time and stick with it. Coaches get all the blame while the players get all the credit. That is part of the gig. It's easy for people to judge from the sidelines and second guess.

I remember back to when my daughter would always remark why did I call this play or that play or why I played that defense at that point. Also, why didn't I play this player who is better than that one. Fast forward 5 years to her first ever game as a head coach. She came up to me after and apologized for ever questioning me. She said, "It's so difficult trying to keep track of everything and making a split second decision for the best possible move or call". I just told her she will make right calls and wrong calls, but as a coach you stay committed to that call. The worst thing you can do as a coach is be unsure in the moment or at least show it. It's over so move on to the next play, game or season. I think we should all do this right now

I don't have anything riding on the game. Just want texas to win. Look at what happened, they lost. That one play was not the reason they lost just a chance to go for the win instead of hoping.

I'm not sure where to post this. ESPN latest projections predict Texas to win Big 12 Championship game 🙄 and play Georgia in playoff semifinal game. They predict Oklahoma to finish 2nd in Big 12 (losing championship game) and play USC in Cotton Bowl. My thoughts are you are #1 until you get beat and press clippings don't win games.

My other thought is if either Texas or BlowU plays USC, scoring records for the Cotton Bowl might be broken.

We had the lead with 1:19 left in the game. They had no timeouts and were 75 yards away.
Sounds like the coach put them in position to win.
Our vaunted defense melted down. That is it in a nutshell. How in the hell does that even happen ?
And why did Malik Muhammed who has been one of our best defensive player not get a credit for a tackle ?
I played and coached and I have never seen momentum swings like that game had.
Really hard to understand

Texas vs ou is a very unique game, throw rarings and win-loss records out the window. Highest or best team does not always win. Who does win is team who scores the most points in the game. Been that way for the seventy plus years that I watched or listened to.
