And specifically at the QB position.Looks that way.
One thing is for certain....our offense is nowhere near either of these 2 teams I'm watching right now.

One problem with the portal is you lose one to gain one. With the portal, who knows?
Interesting that of the four teams three had either senior or redshirt junior quarterbacks, and the one that lost had a freshman quarterback. Coincidence? We may not be at their level offensively yet, but it’s coming. Likely be closer to that level next year, even without two running back studs that we are losing this year. Just my opinion. And specifically at the QB position.
I guess that's where the stars come into play? One problem with the portal is you lose one to gain one.
To me Texas has had more bust than gain in portal. so far.
That's funny because you and I looked at the game the same way. I thought could Texas handle either of these OL or would the DB get eaten alive by the multiple speed receivers that could actually catch the ball...These school just have superior talent on both sides of the ballLooks that way.

Kirk has been a ****head for years , I even told im what I thought about him, a close family friend of mine has a local Austin radio show and we got to talking about Kirk and I told him what I thought about his work, and he told Kirk "my friend thinks you're a ****'" lo and behold I get an email from Kirk saying I heard you dont like me...blah blah blah..., but I think in a sick perverted way he gets off on that and obviously he has been at the AAS for decadesIt’s amazing to me that it seems like nearly every Longhorn beat writer is happier when Texas loses or something bad happens. It may be just me seeing that but it’s almost like they want a “gotcha” moment. Newspapers aren’t that profitable anymore so I guess they need clicks.
I have never been a sports writer but I think I would try to get everyone I’m covering to like/respect me. That way they might tend to throw more content my way. I wouldn’t be a suck up or a homer but I just wouldn’t be asking dumb questions and trying to catch them. I think that’s why Herman came off worse. He was younger, a little more immature and came across as a prick a lot of times. The sports writer’s loved that and would try to ag it on. Herman coached under Urban who we know is a prick and Herman tried to act that part. Only trouble is Urban had some skins on the wall so he could get away with it.Kirk has been a ****head for years , I even told im what I thought about him, a close family friend of mine has a local Austin radio show and we got to talking about Kirk and I told him what I thought about his work, and he told Kirk "my friend thinks you're a ****'" lo and behold I get an email from Kirk saying I heard you dont like me...blah blah blah..., but I think in a sick perverted way he gets off on that and obviously he has been at the AAS for decades
It takes at least 4 or 5 years of consistency at the head coaching position and recruiting to build a championship team in college football. Experience matters just as much as recruiting stars. When you combine both, pow!, you've got a winning program.Interesting that of the four teams three had either senior or redshirt junior quarterbacks, and the one that lost had a freshman quarterback. I used to be friends with the shock jock sports reporter Jim Rome , we met when I was working a famous night club in San Diego and he was just starting his schtick at a small AM radio station with the late Chet Forte of MNF fame, anyhow Jim kinda started that talk show in your face type of "smack talk" as he called it and other reporters like Kirk started to follow suit...the days of Blackie Sherrod and even Randy Galloway are long gone...look at that jerk off Skip Bayless, I remember when he was the beat writer at the DMN and then I moved to San Jose Ca for a year and sure enough he ends up in San Jose at the Mercury News....refuse to watch him on FS1... some people care for that type of talk, in lots of ways its what we do here...but that type of talk keeps internet chat forums aliveI have never been a sports writer but I think I would try to get everyone I’m covering to like/respect me. Like the first question in the press conference the other night was did you consider putting in Malik Murphy. I mean WTH kinda question is that? Quinn threw it all over the yard and we were close enough to have a chance to win. Soooooo Uh NO I didn’t consider putting in a QB that hasn’t taken a snap at the collegiate level. Come on man think of better questions. It’s not going to change so it is what it is. Luckily with the internet, we have a lot more places to get our news and information.

Thats comedy.4 or 5 years4 Dykessays hi
Hey, that's a really good idea, Baron. Maybe we should consult an astrologist when dabbling in the portal. ?I guess that's where the stars come into play?
I looked and it showed TCU brought in 14 portal guys last cycle. Most if not all of them are starters or heavy contributors. I would imagine if I checked Tech, Kansas, Kansas St and probably a lot of others are using the portal to get better quicker.Thats comedy.
Eastex, I hope you're smarter than that. You don't build a champion in one single year. It just doesn't happen.
Dykes had his table set for him. All he had to do was play the cards.
What made the difference for TCU was the offense. Dykes brought an offensive scheme that is highly effective. He was gifted a senior-heavy team with offensive weapons the previous regime did not utilize to its fullest. Patterson was a defensive mind and relied on an OC for everything on offense.
