Common Man Prediction Thread – UT vs the Hated Sooners

Regarding that final drive, doing anything other than taking a knee would have been in poor taste. It's not like we stopped trying to score with 10 minutes left.

It was a perfect run the clock out drive, thanks to some decent run blocking and a lot of Bijan. Heck WVa threw in the white flag, they didn't call their times out even though they could have potentially got a stop and got the ball back. At that point, you take the knee and run the best play in all of football - victory formation.
Great point. All this hand-wringing about a mantra designed to excite recruits and the fan base in regard to recruiting is laughable. All these fans that complain that Sark is not following the "all gas, no breaks" mantra by running up the score would be livid if he had continued to air it out and gotten somebody hurt.

I vividly remember during the 80's I lived in Lake Dallas just off IH35 and had to watch the crimson red procession coming to town as early as Wed afternoon, and having to endure the humiliation of red signs painted with the Final score if the Sooners won all the way to Texoma...one year after UT had won I got my revenge when I painted a big piece of cardboard in big white letters " see ya next year" with a Hook Em Horns at the bottom, I stood with that sign at the Lake Dallas/ Shady Shores exit for about 2 hours on Sunday until a Texas DPS officer reminded me that I was just asking for a bullet coming my way, but gosh it was fun to see all the Sooner faithful flipping me the bird and giving me the Horns down sign..what I wouldn't give to have a big OU SUCKS sign off that exit on Sat afternoon.

It still happens. I'm down the road in Lewisville. I can't even go into a store after an OU win because sooner fans will be there, just talking shit.

When we win though, its like a funeral procession going through town lol

the signs used to start as soon as Farmers Branch.....and I was a bartender at a rocking club on Greenville Ave and it was great for business if BlowU won on Sat, but if they lost they were the poorest losers and would slink home Sat afternoon and the clubs would just be Horn fans...when I lived in Austin it blew me away as to how many closet OU fans  would come out of the woodworks wearing their hats and shirts if OU won but not a peep out of them if they lost

Ok 24 hours to go. Both teams uncertain as to QB's.

UT sets a new high scoring with 45

OU gets punked by our D with 10

The red side of the stadium empties by Q3. Still not a 1st signature win for Sark since OU is so far off this year.
Missed by 14, who's got better?

Okay, straight up confession here.

I hope our team is level-headed enough to respect the threat we're going to see Saturday. OU is an animal backed into a corner. Nothing is off the table for them.

But if we are able to maintain our focus and beat OU soundly, I am hoping it gets out of hand. In fact, I'm hoping we can take it to a score of 65-13 or close to that. I would love some revenge for when they hung that stuff around our necks a decade or so ago. Twice.

Thankfully I was wrong. Mack would have called off the dogs at 28 and coasted home. Glad Sark did not.

Non-score related predictions:

Defense creates 2 turnovers - it's been a struggle so far this year but we are due for some fumble recoveries and regardless of who plays QB for OU, if we get out to a lead they will be forced to pass and some errant throws or bad decisions are likely.

Defense with at least 2 sacks - sacks finally came through last week and I expect a few more this week. OU has injury issues on the OL, if Gabriel plays, he won't likely look to run much coming off the concussion and if it is a backup, they will have a hard time avoiding the pressure.

Texas will pass for over 300 yards and run for over 150 - I think we build an early lead through the air and OU is very disorganized in the defensive backfield. Sark will scheme open a few wide open deep shots and we will also find success in the short passing game out on the perimeter. Run game will be slow in the first half but we salt things away in the 2nd and rack up some yardage.
Defense did get 2 TOs - really 3 if you count the fumble we caused on the first drive but they didn't even review.

Defense had 3 sacks

Ewers only had 297 passing yard, we ran for well over 150 - I'll give myself a pass because we easily get to 300 passing if we needed to.
