Common Man Prediction Thread – UT vs the Hated Sooners

If Gaberial is healthy will be a shoot out. If not will be a blow out,

Teams are always up for this game. With out their QB OU has no fire power.
Gabriel has not proven himself this year against good competition. They were down 34-10 when he went down and he was a big part of the problem. Gabriel or not, Longhorns pull away in the 2nd half

For those who venture into the gambling game...  With the QE news, the betting line has shifted from -7 to -9.5.

One time in the last 10 meetings was this game decided by more than 7 points.

I'm hammering ousux at +9.5 this week.

Okay, straight up confession here.

I hope our team is level-headed enough to respect the threat we're going to see Saturday. OU is an animal backed into a corner. Nothing is off the table for them.

But if we are able to maintain our focus and beat OU soundly, I am hoping it gets out of hand. In fact, I'm hoping we can take it to a score of 65-13 or close to that. I would love some revenge for when they hung that stuff around our necks a decade or so ago. Twice.

I agree but don’t think Sark would do that. I believe he is closer to Mack in that regard than Saban.

Non-score related predictions:

Defense creates 2 turnovers - it's been a struggle so far this year but we are due for some fumble recoveries and regardless of who plays QB for OU, if we get out to a lead they will be forced to pass and some errant throws or bad decisions are likely.

Defense with at least 2 sacks - sacks finally came through last week and I expect a few more this week. OU has injury issues on the OL, if Gabriel plays, he won't likely look to run much coming off the concussion and if it is a backup, they will have a hard time avoiding the pressure.

Texas will pass for over 300 yards and run for over 150 - I think we build an early lead through the air and OU is very disorganized in the defensive backfield. Sark will scheme open a few wide open deep shots and we will also find success in the short passing game out on the perimeter. Run game will be slow in the first half but we salt things away in the 2nd and rack up some yardage.

This game this year is really weird.  Neither team has a QB that has played in this game before.

A weird stat is that the team winning the total rushing yards is something like 22-2 over the last 24 games.

Like our defense over theirs.

Texas --45

ousux -- 20

With only 1 team going over 20 points on us why start adding points to them.

If so then dump the all gas and no brakes.
Just this week he mentioned his respect for the game and not believing in running up the score in regards to the final drive against WVA where it looked like we may have tried harder to score.

I think "all gas no breaks" is bogus.

Ok 24 hours to go. Both teams uncertain as to QB's.

UT sets a new high scoring with 45

OU gets punked by our D with 10

The red side of the stadium empties by Q3. Still not a 1st signature win for Sark since OU is so far off this year.

Regarding that final drive, doing anything other than taking a knee would have been in poor taste. It's not like we stopped trying to score with 10 minutes left.

It was a perfect run the clock out drive, thanks to some decent run blocking and a lot of Bijan. Heck WVa threw in the white flag, they didn't call their times out even though they could have potentially got a stop and got the ball back. At that point, you take the knee and run the best play in all of football - victory formation.
