Great class so far but can someone explain why THE University cant pull a OL recruit away from Kansas?  K-A-N-S-A-SSSSSSS

I dont understand why some of you are pretending these freshmen OL can contribute year 1.  Most OL need atleast one year minimum, a red shirt year.  If we are playing true freshmen OL next year we are in trouble.  See Kerstetter for more.  Pat Hudson was a 5 star, and wasnt ready his first year.  The biggest loss here is the JUCO's OL.  Hopefully we get Grandy.

Warehimme's class has some good freshmen but the biggest factor next year was the JUCO's or absence of.
@DMAC, This is my reply regarding a similar comment in the 2018 thread:

"Yeah, I kinda figure if you're trying to flip a kid the best a staff can hope for is time to build a relationship with him.  I'm sure by offering the staff wanted him to refrain from signing early in hopes of giving them more time to build that relationship.  I'm assuming the recruiting process is "tough"/stressful for a kid and signing is the culmination of everything and a big relief.  Unless Texas was his dream from the time he 1st strapped on a helmet, I can understand him (or any kid for that matter) sticking with who he's already built a relationship and being thankful that the recruiting process is over.  Good luck to him!"

Did the Amarillo / KU linemen even take a visit to UT?

Good luck snagging a kid you offer in this manner (as stated above).

What's going on with Cook?  Shouldn't he have announced by now?

True but still its Kansas.

When I read your post I was thinking the opposite.  White.   He would be a commit right now if we had offered him after the camp.   Still a shot but why did they wait to offer him?

Obviously the staff felt good about their chances with other OL targets and missed the boat on others when the main targets failed to come through.   Basically lost the gamble.

If I was coach this would probably be me anyways:

I have heard over and over that Texas would have landed White had they offered earlier. Truth is we will never know. And even if he had committed to Texas early he could just as well have decommitted and gone somewhere else later.

He was as high on Texas as a recruit could be.  The stalling and delay of the offer is what hurt Texas.

Not buying the could have decommitted later thing.  Any recruit can decommit later and its not a valid excuse for not offering one of the top LB's in the state.

So... we are waiting on:

Cook - Adeoye - Bonitto - Gandy

Right, Wrong???

There have been several guys that Texas could have done a better job with in terms of offering earlier. Once it was obvious the season wasn’t going to be the ringing success as they had hoped, they should have moved on from some OOS targets and focused on guys like White.

I'm not saying it's an excuse. I'm saying that someone who gets his feelings hurt that easily cannot be counted on no matter whether he commits or not.

We only speculate.... but obviously they were not sold.  Texas was recruiting others (like Adeoye) who they thought were better in our system.  Unless White's Huddle footage occurred entirely after the dreaded "no offer at camp" date, I cannot imagine why.

The second part is what is so mystifying.  How in the world could you not be sold on White during that camp.  He had a great camp.  He is fast and packs a hell of a punch.  He doesnt hesitate and "over think it" which is what Orlando wants out of his LB's.

Most people that deal in recruiting, not just fans, expected White to get an offer after that camp.   Even White expected it.  He wasnt a Waddle/Myles recruitment as it is rumored to be.

Now add to that if AA doesnt sign then it really looks bad.

We have some bad luck with this stuff.  JK Dobbins ring a bell?
