if we played in bowl game Watson would still be OC. Charlie`s future is tied to this recruiting class. if we close well with the top players then Strong has chance to turn things around.

Texas has chance to improve just based on graduation because this senior class was hugely under performing in several areas. this was compounded by coaches playing these sr`s over more talented better performing underclassmen i.e. wr`s,oline,rb.                                                                                                                                                                                                 I`m hoping that Charlie will finally be allowed to use resources Texas has to complete the support staff. the Strong haters do not realize how far behind Texas is because of Patterson just look at the pay for grad assistants causing all but one to leave and forcing Strong into cutting number of ga`s so that pay could increase,the recruiting budget and staff is behind most schools with coaches being forced to fly commercial to recruit,not to mention the cheapness of Patterson kept the Wickline case from being settled creating unneeded headache for everyone.

Charlie has made mistakes especially with his hires on offense but I believe that the dead weight is being trimmed from coaching staff and roster plus with another recruiting class to infuse much needed talent better days are ahead.

Herman gets no credit its always some bullshit reason such as lower competition and now this is a first time I have heard Herman rolled with a great senior class.  You do realize you are talking about effin UH?  When Strong losses to Notre Dame its because Notre Dame is a beast but UH wins because of its seniors not Herman.

Herman was playing a 3rd string converted WR at QB at some points in this season and still won. '

Here is a way to look at it.  We all want to back Strong saying he finally has a great OC on his staff.  This is true (hopefully).  Now say the same thing about Herman.  Who do you attribute most thier success to?  Applewhite or Herman?  Its Herman.  

The point I am trying to make is the staff makes the HC and who do you trust more to make that staff, Strong or Herman?  My money would be on Herman.  BTW as of right now, UH has a higher rated recruiting class than Texas does.  That will be probably change on NSD but still we are talking UH.

I hope the rumors about Herman disliking aggie and coveting the UT job are true. Otherwise, we may miss out on a potential rock star trying to make it work with Chuck. I think he's in over his head at UT, but I hope he proves me wrong.

I think UT will be better next season.  I think Strong gets them to eight wins and a possible bowl win.  I think there will be noticeable improvement in the offense.  I think Gilbert will get a serviceable performance from one of the quarterbacks either already on campus or coming in.  I think Strong closes with another good, but probably not great recruiting class this year.  I think all of those things happen, and yet...I think if UT's gonna get consistently good to great long term, Herman needs to be the new head coach.  I said a couple of years ago that Strong might not be around long enough to see his recruits develop, and that another head coach might reap the benefit of the players Strong's brought in.  I think that head coach will be Tom Herman.

Harbaugh is 10-3 in his first season.

Herman is 13-1 in his first season

McElwain is 10-4 in his first season after replacing another former DC promoted to HC (Muschamp).  Also named SEC coach of the year.

Strong is 6-7 in first year and 5-7 in his second year.

You can make the normal excuse we had no talent and Michigan and Florida had talent.  Thats fine but before this season started did you expect UH Cougars to beat top 10 teams?  We were embarrassed vs ND and UH put down Florida State.  Does UH have better talent than Texas?  No they do NOT.  They are coached better, period.  You do realize Herman was using a WR at QB for some of those games?  What makes us so effin special we need 4-5 years to rebuild?  

To say he is our coach and we must stand behind him is admirable, to say the least, but my loyalty is to the school not the coach.  Its funny when a recruit bails on a school after the head coach is fired it is understandable but when fans dislike the current job of a HC is lets all group hug and stand behind the guy even if he is a probable mistake.  That makes total sense.

Other than HoeU game what has Charlie shown anyone here that he IS the guy to lead us to the promise land?  Im all ears.  You can leave the Core value BS at door.  Herman has his Core values listed and still wins.

Do you think Michigan, Gator, or even Cougar fans worry about their HC making the correct staff decisions?  How about recruiting?  Last time I checked they all recruit as good as or better than the beloved Strong.  Why is everyone surprised when the school president flies to Tulsa to hire an OC?  Even coordinators are worried about Strong ability to stay at Texas.  

After all this and the best response is still......"Hes our coach and we need to stand behind him" rah! rah!

Sorry but we can do better.  Herman is a better coach.  I trust Herman to make the right decisions.

Mistakes are normal but continue making the same mistake is a problem. Gilbert may save Charlies job but in the end Harbaugh and Herman are better coaches IMO.

Charlie has won everywhere he's been and has coached under a couple of Hall Of Fame coaches, the man can develop talent, look at all of the pro prospects he developed while at Louisville , What Charlie is building isn't a straw house, a huge gust of wind comes and blows down a straw house , Charlie is building a brick house, one that can withstand all of the elements. You can come in and win quick and not sustain it (A&M) or you can build a foundation and have something very special like the dynasties he was a part of at ND and Florida. When coach strong gets this thing rolling we don't need you hopping on the bandwagon. But just know it's coming , we are going to build a Alabama like dynasty here at Texas . As coach Bedford would say "Hop on the train or get out of the way" I believe in Charlie, he develops talent but most importantly he develops good men, I say we have some patience and let the man do his job.
