Locksley --

"(FSU visit) Went very well. Covered and clarified a lot."

"I have an in-home visit with Texas Friday, so I definitely have to give them a chance to see what they have to say before I come to a conclusion."

"But I've been and stayed committed to FSU throughout the process.  So I'll leave it at that."

This comment makes me think we won't get Locksley.  And, I think my gut feeling about Murray will be correct as well.

So, IMO, this recruiting class is shaping up to only have one QB - Merrick.  And that's not good.

However, I agree that we have Daylon Mack and the Boyds - as well as Hill.  Warren is a Longhorn as well.

Sumlin couldn't have played this any worse. I mean offer Demarco when he actually visited last weekend.

It just screams desperation when you offer literally hours before Kris commits and Demarco saying "I'm committing pretty soon". I'm pretty sure Demarco realizes it too.

IMO Sumlin played the Kris, Demarco and Hill recruitment about as badly as you can play it. He slow rolled the hell out of all 3 of them.
Agree. I can hear Sumlin, Hey Kris we want you so bad, were willing to take your brother. They didn't offer Chris Warren until this month.

Yes Juan, there were no scholly limits then, but there are 2 ways to compare the 1967 bunch and the 2015 class if it does turn out to be a stellar class.

1.  If the 2015 class sweeps the field with the commitments and the uncommitted leans that are highly rated like we all hope, then a comparison to the overall talent gathered could be measured / compared to the 1967 bunch.  It could then be reasonably concluded that 2015 met, surpassed or not the 1967 class.

2.  Another comparison could be made with on the field results from the 2 classes.

The 1967 bunch could not play as freshmen - the frosh had their own team, so the W-L record for that group was over 3 years.  The '67 group record was (I believe): 30-2-1 (1968: 9-1-1, 1969: 11-0, 1970: 10-1) .  This included the 30 game winning streak - the longest in UT history.

To be a  fair comparison, the 2015 class would have to be measured for 3 years, Soph. - Senior years.  On the other hand , one could argue it would not be fair to take away their freshman year results to make the comparison.

I really care little about comparing this class to other classes to prove anything.  All I really care about is UT finishing the best we can with this 2015 class, putting a stick in aggy eyes and perhaps getting as high as the  #2 class in all the land.

Hook 'Em!!
Great points.  The only way a recruiting class can truly be evaluated is their college playing record.  The Worster bunch's record was gold.

I thought it was hard to tell on Locksley

Largely boilerplate response from him

But, clearly we need QBs

It also appears Charlie has a plan and is following it.  I also think the fact the we gave up somewhat easily on Gentry is a signal (or I hope it was). Charlie never did an in-home with him.  And, at the end, we sent only 2 assistants to see him.  Compare that to the recent visit with Lodge -- 7 coaches were there -- crikey mate, that's alot of coaches.

Bottom line for me, I just think we would have fought harder to keep Gentry on the train if we did not already have another plan in place at QB.
