2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

As long as it's to ATX and he qualifies....he can blab all he wants. However, once he's in Austin I wouldn't include him in any secret gameplanning if I was a coach.

I may be wrong, and I try to pay attention to details like this, but I don't think Clarrington's issue is grades. I think it's scattered pieces of a transcript due to his transferring to different schools so many times. All that stuff has to be merged or chronologically set up how it needs to be.

I have no clue what the issue is but Burton thinks he will qualify.

He may not have thought you were laughing at him at all. Your shirt is just another painful reminder to him of reality. And I dig the tastefully understated insignia, too.

Know nothing right now on Clark.

Anthony Wheeler has set a date to announce – Jan. 2.

Though he says its down to OU, Baylor LSU and Texas, he's had no official visit to Texas so I can't imagine him choosing Texas without the OV.

The issue with Clarrington is that he attended (I believe) 4 different high schools.

Transferring schools is not unusual for the Florida kids (although 4 seems to be pushing it).

FSU, Miami and UF get them in every year, so we should be able to do the same.

ps1- Sandy Cheeks baby!

ps2 - how great would it be if it were Florida University instead of the University of Florida?

We might as well throw in the towel. According to Hamm, Malik won't help us at all.

Do ags even take this guy seriously. Usually writers some sort of objectivity. He doesn't even attempt to try. It must suck to be a homer for a team that never surfaces above mediocrity.

Hamm is an idiot anyways.  Typical ag response when they lose a recruit they all wanted.  Butthurt

So I guess Boyd hasn't announced yet.
You could almost write the script for them, it's happened so many times.

Boyd has postponed to the end of January. Sucks. But those who know say we're still in the catbird seat.

Here is what BON is saying about our chances with Davante Davis, both good and bad ....

"....... The consensus four-star prospect is still believed to be a Florida State lean by those close to the program.

In fact, Davis might have already committed to head coach Jimbo Fisher and his staff except for the fact that

the Noles only have one spot left at defensive back and have been angling for commitments from top-flight

prospects like Boyd or California star Iman Marshall.

* * * *

The good news with Davis, though, is that several predictions for the Longhorns have been cast in Davis'

247Sports Crystal Ball."

_________________________________________________

And here is what Barking Carnival (Scipio) thinks about Davis --

"24-7's Crystal Ball projections favor FSU heavily, but there's reason to believe that Charlie Strong made a favorable impression on young Davis late in the process and we're legitimately in the running.  Davis is a 6-2, 200 pound DB from South Florida powerhouse Booker T Washington (3 consecutive state titles) and considered a consensus four star recruit.  He's every bit that size and he's fully capable of playing safety or possibly even linebacker at the next level.

I like Davis' film (it was shot on 8mm from a hot air balloon) as it highlights his aggression, comfort near the line of scrimmage, natural ball skills and ability to cover ground in a football game despite possessing unremarkable straight line speed.  There are some aspects of his game that are very similar to Longhorn freshman phenom Jason Hall.

With Kris Boyd, Holton Hill and Tim Irvin still available (Texas is favored or heavily in the running for each of the three), and Deshon Elliott already in the fold, the Longhorns have the potential to finish out with an absolutely elite 2015 defensive back class that combines the best of Texas and Florida flavor.  This staff will take every one of them if they'd like to come - we'll figure out the numbers later.

If you haven't already noticed, this 2015 class has the potential for a big late close.  But recruiting isn't horseshoes or hand grenades - first place and a signature on the line that is dotted is the only thing that matters.  Second place gets a set of steak knives......."

I saw these that someone put together -- the current CB %s for Texas of some of the outstanding uncommitteds.

The numbers dont mean much as they go back in time pretty far, do not reflect the current trend and include guesses by analysts who do not necessarily follow the Big 12 closely.  Still, it is somewhat interesting

Daylon Mack, DT, 31%
Chris Warren, RB, 75%

Anthony Wheeler, OLB, 33%
Devonaire Clarington, TE, 37%

Ryan Newsome, WR, 72%
Holton Hill, CB, 60%
Kris Boyd, CB, 62%
Davante Davis, CB, 11%
Sheldrick Redwine, CB, 20%
Ronnie Hoggins, CB, 73%

I'm going to go over these as some of it doesn't seem to be realistic.

For instance, Wheeler has not visited and doesn't plan to and is about to announce soon. Little chance of anything good there happening for Texas.

Mack, on the other hand, likely won't announce until NSD or at the end of his Texas visit, which he says he intends to take. So IMO, Mack is a higher percentage for Texas than Wheeler ever will be now.

Warren is about 95%

Clarrington is about 105%

Davis is about 75%

Newsome is about 90%

Redwine is about right at 20%

Hill and Boyd are a little higher at 75% (boyd was ready to commit to us today before postponing)

Hoggins, not sure the numbers will work for him.

BTW, Grande, UTisdabomb – have either of you heard that Rivals just gave Vahe his 5th star? I think I read that yesterday. I checked the Rivals team ratings late last night and no change had been made.

Vahe = 5 Star

Jefferson =  5 Star

If my math is correct that is two 5 stars among the 2015 commitments for CFS, SO FAR!!!!

Hook 'Em!!
