I like CS.... But I do wish we were a bit more spread offensively...

Seems to be the BIG 12 culture.... Think before it's over we are going to have to adapt to the Texas HS culture..... Wickline excelled at it... Swoopes built for if..... Our RB are a natural fit.... I just don't believe we are going to smash anyone in the mouth up front.....

Last night's offensive game plan and performance was abysmal.  Yes, I know we had a back-up QB and 3 new O-line starters.  But, there's no excuse for NEVER taking a shot downfield when BYU has 8 & 9 stacking the box.

Just my opinion.  I'm not giving up on this staff, but I don't wanna hear, "I knew we weren't ready to play" from CFS or anybody else.

Swoopes was 20 of 31. If you add the three drops he is 23/31 which is over a 70% completion rate. We should have stayed in the shotgun and thrown quick hitting passes, when we did if worked. Watson's ability to adjust was not good. Obviously the defense failed to execute on BYU's first two possessions of third qtr. it was a team loss. Let's hope they can get it fixed.

With (3) starting OL missing, backup QB and arguably your most exciting option on offense all out, it wouldn't have mattered what type offense you run, the results would have been the same.

The lack of depth on this team is a direct result of poor recruiting over the last few years, combine that with a shift in philosophy by the coaching staff results in what you saw last night.

Alabama, LSU, Stanford & Wisconsin all win with this type of offensive scheme and with the right players and depth, Texas can win as well.  PATIENCE is needed the first couple of seasons under Coach Strong.

Will

Watson be to Strong

what

Davis was to Brown?

I not trying to be argumentative but I am curious as to whether or not you'd rather hear "coach speak" or an honest assessment from the head coach. Personally I'd prefer an honest assessment whether or not I like it or not.

I agree with you, I would rather not hear anyone say they were not ready to play but I'm okay with CFS's assessment, and his willingness to take "all the blame".

I do hope when Daje gets back and the line gets straight, we can run the ball effectively, if not we will see the box stacked all year.

Davis had a ton of great offenses. From a power running game with Ricky to the zone read success of VY and colt.

So to answer your question... I hope so.

My thought. . .

Do you realize that outside of 2010, GD's WORST offense finished #18 in the nation in scoring?

Do you realize that for all the 'run up the score' guys, GD was the 1st OC to break teh 50 point a game barrier for a season?

GD started breaking the TEXAS record book in year one.

I would flat love to see an offense that good again. . .

I honestly want CFS to find a way to get this team ready to play.  His answer sounds like they played flat, lacked motivation, or were poorly coached.  I don't see how that's possible after last year, but okay.  BYU didn't do anything new with Taysom Hill this year.

In reality, there probably wasn't a good way to address another BYU debacle.  Yes, I appreciate CFS for 'taking all the blame' but, FWIW, Mack did the same thing numerous times.  "I want to apologize to all the Texas fans..."

It's not a new take on post-game speeches.  Just repackaged rhetoric.
