Friend of Bevo

Duke,

BTW, the Feds got involved immediately.
I am patiently waiting to hear what comes of this. There is a strange silence about this. If there was an assault, the feds are going to look closely at any conversations between the administrators of the two schools. What makes me think there is something about to happen with respect to this whole mess is that Sumlin picked up a JUCO defensive lineman from Blinn out of the blue late last week. Who waits until June 1 to sign a player unless the coach unexpectedly loses a player? If Sumlin knew he needed another defensive end, why wait till the last minute to get a kid who I believe redshirted at a JUCO? Seriously, who redshirts their first year at a JUCO and waltzes into an SEC school on June 1 that just signed a top 10 recruiting class.

So here we have the Hornsports resident Ag commenting that this situation is not looking good for Stansbury.

Evidently A&M does not expect him back.
well, that's a wrap. if an anonymous message board guy implies it, it's a done deal.

look the guy may be guilty as sin. but the writing of the topic here, absent anything more concrete than what has been reported, seems slimy. jmo.

McPhaul called Stansbury's atty before he printed the original story. Stansbury and aggy know the story is out there and they haven't demanded a retraction. As explicit as the story was, I can't believe McPhaul hasn't received a retraction demand.

He goes by his actual name. What is anonymous about that?

They certainly could and would if I was wrong.

So, when the papers catch up to what is being reported here, I guess then it won't be slimy?

In my best Mack Brown voice, that's fair:)
saban was 100% right?

that's a cheap shot. i know.

i like you darrell and i'm sure you're reporting what you're hearing. but like i've said, just seems like a longhorn site piling on a salacious aggie story.

anyway, i've gone waaaaay longer on this than i meant to. been up a long time watching 7-7 ( and yes, boerne advanced and dormady looked good). gonna bow out of this topic and try and finish the baseball game.

I don't think that the TV contracts will be that big of a problem. If the contracts are allowed to stand as they are and the conferences remain the same, eliminate the conference championships and the allow the TV rights to remain with the home teams. Pods will not interfere as games within them will still be played on a home & home basis, so the money should even out. Conference members chosing not to participate in D4 football will not participate in the conferences' profit distribution from football, and playoff monies will be distributed to the conferences & distributed according to their regs..The playoffs will have to expand, with a huge increase in revenue, and a portion of that will be distributed evenly to every D4 football participant. This could all be worked out fairly quickly, once everyone sees that the money will be better all around. Non-pod games won't count toward pod championships, so long distance rivalries will be able to be maintained, but they will count in helping to establish seeding for the playoffs. 8 pods playing round robin + 3 OOP games + up to 4 playoff games = 15 max. Add in the remaining bowls, & most teams still play 12 games for the season.

Was told the Jackson commit yesterday was directly related to Stansbury's legal standing.
All due respect but this kinda doesn't make sense

Stansbury is a senior this year.

The DE we got won't contribute this year and will likely RS. He won't contribute until stansbury is gone.

Plenty or work for contract attorneys

Several firms gonna make their Christmas bonuses

I thought he redshirted last year and only has 4 to play 4. I know some aggy jokes write themselves, but is Sumlin really going to burn a year of this kid's eligibility by redshirting a player who isn't eligible to redshirt?

The biggest is saying the young man keeps taking money from boosters. If you have proof show it, if not well probably not best to rumor monger.

Not best to rumor monger?

Here is your Mike Barnes response on Crossfire:

I find it funny that months ago when I said Patterson was going rogue I got blasted for that. Now FOB confirms that. Well well. Big mike in the house.. LMFAO

Here is what FOB stated:

FOB:  Different breed, different mindset.  Patterson is all about business and I’m not sure he will ever attempt to build the relationships Deloss spent many years cultivating at Texas. Patterson has struck some of the BMD’s as being aloof where Dodds was approachable.  Bringing on Patterson has turned into the scenario of be careful what you ask for.  It’s not that Steve is not friendly, he just has a certain mental approach to what he wants to do and sometimes that does not include others opinion.

Mike, Can you show us what part of Steve Patterson job description & responsibilities he has gone "rogue"?  I mean you must have some "proof", right?  Surely you are not just rumor mongering?  But by all means, continue to laugh your ass off at the rest of us while you show us the "proof".

Because this is what you responded on this thread with:

Mike Barnes wrote:   I hate aggy as much as anyone but I find the continued coverage of the Stansbury issue to be inappropriate & borderline slander and then you went to say, The biggest is saying the young man keeps taking money from boosters. Mike,  Must I remind you that Steve Patterson reports to Bill Powers and Powers has been behind & supported every one of Patterson's decisions.  We will patiently for you to tell & show us the proof that Steve Patterson has gone rogue as the Athletic Director at Texas because it is above you Big Mike to rumor monger, right?

I find it ironic that you Mike, have no problems borderline slandering your own schools AD but, have issues with me, who has done his homework, who has talked to attorneys & officials concerning this case.  What we do know as facts is: Stansbury was staying at a motel one block from the Rice campus and is at this time is being charged for putting a kid in the hospital.  There were 10 eyewitnesses to this assault and they have been interviewed by the Harris County DA's office.  These witnesses have stated that Stansbury was attempting to rape a Rice female student and the victim Stansbury put in the hospital attempted to intervene.  Other facts are that Stansbury has fired Allena Wright and has hired a very expensive  attorney to represent him.  Like Duke said, it's rare for most students to come up with 35k to retain a attorney.  Other facts are the Feds are now involved.

I will say this, under Sumlin A&M has had it's share of run ins with law.  There are many fine young men & women that play sports for Texas A&M.  Sumlin has brought in outside consulting to assist him in instilling discipline into the A&M football program evidently because he does not know how to.  Mack Brown didn't either and also needed on going consulting.

You want to be noble Mike?  Be noble to your own schools AD & the Texas A&M student athletes that are deserving, not some kid like Stansbury.

If the feds are involved, tamu better throw Stansbury and even Sumlin, if necessary, under the bus and find an exit strategy immediately. The Dept of Education doesn't open major investigations in the course of normal business. There is no amount of outrage at college campus rape that can be enough as politicians at the federal level posture for 2016. The feds will be looking for their headline case and if they pick aggy and Stansbury, claiming federal investigators are "butt hurt" and jealous of the greatness of aggy isn't going to work.

Something about this story isn't making sense. I don't get why other media hasn't picked up on it yet.

Joe, what are atm sources saying about Stansbury?  I know Hamm was swearing it's mistaken identity.  Sticking to his guns?

As a woman, I am incensed that any school would try to cover-up a rape. I can also appreciate that the officials at Rice are moving judiciously precisely because they do not want to falsely accuse anyone, and in the process, damage their future.

Texas A&M, and by extension Perry's puppets, grossly overstepped by trying to insert themselves into another school's investigation. Perry has meddled in every facet of UT affairs since taking office. He has meddled into both the athletic and academic side of A&M, as well. We were fortunate to have Powers running the show at Texas, and he was able to prevent most of the damage to our beloved University with the backing of some powerful regents and the legislature. A&M followed his lead like lambs to the slaughter.

Rape is terrible crime, perpetrated by insecure, twisted men, and the recidivism rate is quite high. To try to cover it up is a disservice to society. I am disgusted by anyone who would question Darrell on this, based on any pet platform. To do so means that you do not feel that rape, or attempted rape changes a woman's (or man's) life forever. It also speaks volumns about the inflexibility of your thought process and your inability to empathize with someone else, despite the rhetoric to the contrary.

With the Feds involved, Perry is effectively neutered. In my dreams that would have happened 20 years ago (neutering). EDIT: for clarification, I am grateful that Perry will not be able to tamper, as is believe he has been tampering with Universities in Texas since he became Lt. gov.

We haven't heard anything on stansbury. There's no news out there on my end. If something like what mcphaul is saying is actually going on I'm kind of surprised that I haven't heard even the slightest bit of smoke on our end.

And RD you're right. The new de won't redshirt but he's not the kind of player you pick up for immediate impact in the event that stansbury was to be inelgible. He's a project that I think we took because of the weak class of HS DEs in 2014.

@java - Its premature to say Stansbury or the school did or didn't do anything. There are only allegations, so outrage should probably be reserved for a more thorough hearing of the facts.

All parties would have had months to determine e what they believe the facts are. At this point, any rape charges would have to come from a grand jury. If this is going to a grand jury, I can understand the principals being quiet before any indictment is passed down.

What doesn't make sense is a coach who has been killing it at recruiting waiting until all decent options have been exhausted, eight weeks before the season starts, and signing a JUCO who not only wasn't outstanding last season, but hadn't played a down since high school?! If you have an open scharship, give it to a walk on and look for a quality player to sign in 2015. Also, college kids of limited means don't blow money on hiring criminal defense litigators for misdemeanor charges.

The big risk for aggy if there are charges and they don't find an exit strategy quickly is that they get caught up in a political sh!tstorm where Obama wants to hand Hillary a way to neuter Perry or Cruz by tying a conservative, male dominated school in Texas to their conservative, male oriented identities. Not even allowing women cheerleaders, perceived as covering up a rape to protect a male athlete at Rick Perry's alma mater while the board of regents were his appointees. Not a good position to be in.

Java,

Agree with everything you said but the last line. . . .
