Well thank you for being a part of Horn Sports. 

We do plan on writing about basketball on top of wall to wall coverage with football. I believe basketball is an untapped market in Texas Longhorns coverage. Football drives the bus, anyone who writes for the Texas Longhorns know that. But basketball has a dedicated following that is underserved IMO.

Howdy!  I've made it to Madrid!  I'm waiting for my friend from Dubai to join me.  It's about 7:45pm and Spaniards eat late!  Most restaurants don't open until 8pm.

Connecting through London Heathrow, I had some fish and chips and a London Pride ale for lunch.  Both quite tasty.  Haven't slept in 2 days and feel exhausted but the excitement of eating good food keeps me going.  I'm all about food!

Neglecting sleep is a quick ticket to getting sick.  Particularly catching something from a foreign country.  Get your rest.

By-the-way, I admire your free spirited and independent mind.  Not many women would strike off in this kind of trip, by themselves.

I'm glad to see you are hooking up with someone - hopefully he/she is well schooled in the martial arts.

Of course, that is the "A River Runs Through It" solution.  Others would say take a maintenance dosage daily of the local equivalent of Lomotil.  That way you can eat and drink whatever you want.  Contrary to what Americans would have you believe, many other countries have water treatment standards that are as good or better than in the USofA.  The problem is that there are always local intestinal bugs that the local population is accustomed to - they do not cause them any intestinal problems, just us furriners.  It is the same for folks form other countries visiting the US.  In fact, this can be a problem from one area of the US to another.  But of course, as a well traveled, world traveler, you probably already know this.  Actually, this post is for Juan Grande and his "prune" solution!    Juan Grande, don't you get tired of hauling around all of that produce when you travel?

Well, we were suppose to eat at Street XO but they didn't open until 8pm. The flamenco show started at 9pm so delayed dinner until after.

I love Madrid! In many ways, very similar to NYC. The people here are so nice and guys are eye candy.

The flamenco show was amazing. Love Spanish guitar and the beats and rhythm flowing from the dancer's shoes.

We had dinner around 11pm at an awesome tapas restaurant, La Vinoteca. My friend leaves tomorrow afternoon so for the next 2 weeks and 4 cities, I will travel solo until I meet up with friends in Hong Kong. Since my friend is a vegetarian, I'm looking forward to eating Argentine/Spanish fusion cuisine tomorrow night. Texans love good beef!

Horses, it is all in the rhythm of running horses.  SFLonghorngirl, you may not know this but their is a long flamenco tradition in Austin.  I will have to do a little research, I do not know whether the gentleman is still alive, but a world famous flamenco dancer used to come to Austin every summer and hold a school for musicians and dancers.  My wife and I used to take Latin dancing classes of all varieties so we went to their performances for several summers.  I will find out what I can find out.  You might be encouraged to spend some summertime fun in Austin! 

It was Jose Greco, when he was old and had officially retired, he came to Austin in the summer and had a dance company/school. Maybe he came here because of the warm weather and Austin's receptive nature for the arts.  He died in 2000 and his son, Jose Greco II now runs the Jose Greco Dance Company Dance Company in Austin, one of as best I can tell, four, flamenco dance companies/schools in Austin.  Just thought you would want to know. 

There is an old saying that I just made up, "A strong man should never deny a strong woman in the dance.  And, of course, the dance is everything!"

Not meaning to take away from your trip SFLonghorngirl, but here is another Austin flamenco crossover with Sam Beam, Iron and Wine, and some dancers from some local flamenco dance groups.  Austin is a wonderful place. For the rest of us here, I hope it is some semblance  of what you experienced.

Does Flamenco have a Arab/Northern African influence? The music tonight was amazing but some vocals sounded of Arab influence. Very beautiful music. Definitely the highlight of my trip thus far.

When I move to Austin later this year, will definitely check out the Flamenco scene. I would love to learn how to play Spanish guitar.
