*****GAME THREAD: #3 Texas Longhorns @ Arkansas*****

Stop the gnashing of teeth. Texas won.

Yea that game made me nervous. Instead it went to @Sirhornsalot and @DBut82 in text messages rather than here. Thank god our defense is playing lights out because the offense doesnt look championship caliber. Quinn is inconsistent and clumsy in the pocket. His deep ball leaves a lot to be desired. So we are limited to short passes with him. Hes not a run threat but more like a sack threat.

Thank god we won but we need to be better than this offensively or this will end disappointment. Sark needs to help Ewers more. I am not sure whats up but something is off. Quinn or just the offense as a whole reminds me of this guy.

I believe Sark is trying to help him early by all of those screen passes and short throws in order to help Quinn get into a rhythm. It seems good defenses know this and then we start slow.

But even with that we are so inconsistent down field.

The best thing to help Quinn is a very good run game to make him a game manager which is all he is. Not a great one but just a decent one.

I’ll take the Ws!

I agree a win is a win. I do wish we would start stronger though. We start slow sometimes and the way the defense played it just seemed like we should have been up more than 10-0 at halftime. Georgia blew the piggies away 37-0. We need to fix the struggles before post season.

A game manager is a good description of him since he can't stretch the field consistently.

In his current form, the dude can't and won't hack it in the NFL.

And Ole Miss put up 63? We don’t have so score 63 but we should’ve scored way more with one of the best offensive coaches, most experience o-lines and NFL type WRs. It’s why everyone is frustrated bc it seems like Quinn’s play is what is holding it all back. yes everyone has made mistakes with missed blocks etc but the QB is the driver.

With the way ABC and Palmer talk about him, you’d think he was a first rounder still lol.

Everyone wants him to succeed, he just needs to do it by playing better!

Exactly this. We should've won by at least 3+ TDs today, easily

Anyone without burnt orange glasses on who's actually watched Quinn this season knows he'd be lucky to go on Day 2, honestly. Of course I'd love to see him perform better and get drafted higher, but I think he is what he is at this point.

Watching the longer passes down field that were misses, I did find myself wondering how Manning would have done on those passes. I'm sure many of you did as well.

I think QE throws the long pass paranoid of the INT so he overthrows everybody just to be safe.

I think Arch throws the long pass trying to actually hit the receiver in stride.

I was agreeing with those previous comments during the game regarding his overthrow, when he immediately under throws a receiver that would’ve been a sure touchdown.

Not sure goes undrafted

He will cost us before season is out
If he can't handle pigs rush what will he do against aggies & I want keep eternal scoreboard at least til I ho home.

Was listening to Chris Simms talking about Ewers. One things he pointed he stays on first read to long.

I'm not a former QB or a QB coach, but I actually thought it was the opposite. They even showed during the Arky game that he was getting rid of the ball in 3 seconds or less. To me it looks like he is quick to check down, but what hell do I know

When I watch Beck play he is very reckless and hence has a ton of interceptions. High risk high reward. Ewers seems the opposite to me, very conservative. Sure some of that is Sark but I would imagine playing too much to either side of the spectrum is not good. His stats this year are very skewed by the short passes. I am probably most disappointed with his deep ball accuracy and lack of mobility in the pocket. I think Manning has a much higher ceiling and a brighter future but it does baffle me because Ewers last year against Alabama was red hot. Something is just off with him and to me at least its his confidence.

I know most you think im bashing him but I was his biggest fan when he transferred here. I just have a feeling his play is going to cost us and THE TEAM at some point. We are not very sharp and if we go against a really good team with him playing like this we are more than likely screwed. Manning is young but I do believe he is better right now and if he had started the last 4-5 games he would be even better. Yea I know it doesnt appear I have any loyalty but my loyalty lies with playing the best possible players that gives the team the best chance to win. Maybe Ewers snaps out of his funk. I truly hope so but then again until I am given a 11 million a year Sark coaching salary my input is rather useless.

Just a little devils advocate. If QE3 plays conservatively and doesn't turn ball over I don’t believe we are screwed. We have championship level defense that has shown up every game. If Ewers steps up and gets hot this team will roll. I would rather ride that option as opposed to a young signal caller who might make a very critical mistake and cost us a tight game.

I hope you are right. Manning didn’t cost us any games though. Not even close. Stats on both below. Quinn’s stats are lower this year than last. He’s barely at 50% of the yardage. Already the same number of INTs as all of last year. Lower QBR than arch. Arch runs a 23 mph qb run. He can move in the pocket. He has a way better deep ball. He’s thicker too, he’s not going break to a sack. Probably the most important he has triple the confidence that Quinn has. Ewers hasn’t been the same since coming back if people can’t see that then it’s just willful blindness. I hope I’m wrong but unless he snaps out of it it’s going to cost us at some point

Agree and understand. I am just gonna defer to Sark and staff, it’s ok to wonder and speculate that is for sure. And that is what message boards are for, I have to believe that the staff is making the best decision for this team to make a championship run.

Yea true on that. It’s ok to differ on opinions. I’m not trying to convince anyone. Just stating my concerns. Sometimes by biggest issue with coaches is their loyalty to players. Like Donte Foreman sitting behind Gray when Foreman was absolutely far better. I said the same thing back then only to have folks come to bat for Gray. Obviously when Foreman took over it was painfully obvious he was better than Gray. Makes you wonder why coaches pick Gray over Foreman? Btw coaches including sark make dumbass decisions all the time. Taking a FG off the board and whiffing on 4th down or not accepting that holding call on pigs last game. Only give up a first down. He’s not immune to dumbass decisions
