You all may remember a name, Floyd Guidry, a DL from Spring High, from last spring when Texas was recruiting him. He ended up committing to TCU. He is a 4-star currently.

Gerry Hamilton sure likes him, says his early senior tape is quite impressive. Texas is after him and are working to bring him in for a game/visit.

If we do indeed get Hilson, do we for sure pass Auburn into 5th place and how close will we be to Georgia for 4th?
If my calculations are correct (I would use the class calculator on 247, but it won't work on my phone) if Texas were to grab Hilson and Terry then it would put them right at 300 in 3rd place.

Georgia sits at 21 commits. That is only one more than we have.

Texas sits iin 6th place with 285.78 pts. We have 20 commits.

Auburn is in 5th place with 286.19 and have 23 commits. The next commit we get will put us ahead of Auburn, as long as AUburn doesn't add more. Losinig at home to Cal is not a good way to impress recruits.

4th place is Georgia with 288.53 points. They have 21 locked in so far. Thats only 1 more than we have. So our ability to catch Georgia is limited and likely ends up a push. We wouldn't change positions from where we are now I don't think.

LSU sits at 296 pts for their class ini 3rd place. They have 26 commits already so they won't be adding to many points from here.

Alabama sits in 2nd place with 303.36 pts. It's doable, but we'll need a 5-star to get there (paging Michael Terry).

Ohio State has a full class already with 28 commits and 312.60 points. They have 4 five stars and 18 4 stars. I don't think its happening for us there.

Looking over the various classes, I stumbled upon some neat info.

In Notre Dame's class, there is a 3-star WR named Jerome Bettis, Jr.

I feel so old. lol

All indications are that the total scholarship limit is moving from 85 to 105 for the 2025-2026 season.

In addition to the new 105 limit, they will be able to offer partial scholarships, so they could have over 105 if they choose.

With no limit on class size and the new 105 limit, 2025 classes could be much larger this year. Sark may want to use some of those extra scholarships for portal guys, so we can have a better distribution of freshman-seniors

I'm guessing the top schools have plenty more scholarships to offer. Should make for an interesting recruiting season finish.

I’ve tried the 24/7 calculator as well but it doesn’t seem to work well on my phone either. If it did, I would not need to ask these kinds of questions. Thanks for the help!!
When the scholarship limits go up to 105, I think the chasm between the big dogs and the rest widens considerably because of NIL.

A 300 score is usually good for 3rd overall. Regardless of the specific ranking, adding a stud DE in Hilson, a 5 star athlete in Terry and a few more pieces at DB, LB and DT would fill out this class nicely. The type of class that you stack up year over year to win championships.

I'm not so sure.

Good players want to play and play now. You might sign a bunch of guys but you'll have a few portals of those that don't get playing time by 2nd or 3rd year.

I think teams that go to 105 will be made up of a lot of bench warmers and PWO that might get a shot at playing and possibly earning a scholarship.

You are probably right in most cases. This is why it is so important that Sark emphasizes character and culture. That way the guys we are after probably won’t portal unless they are being passed on the depth chart and won’t play much. So it’s OK if they go elsewhere where they will play more and Sark has proven that he can replace the depth they provided through the portal.

From what I understand there won't be any more PWO. They are allowing partial scholarships. I have not seen any information on how that works. i.e. what is the minimum percentage an athlete can get. Maybe a player that would previously be a PWO will now get the minimum % of scholarship.

If you bring in more athletes then don't play by year 2 or year 3, then as you say some will likely leave. But being able to have more athletes competing for playing time should make the team stronger.

I think like NIL and the transfer portal the change to 105 will give large schools like Texas an advantage.
