**Running College Football Updates Thread**

And going into last year, we thought he was on a very hot seat.
Seat is still pretty hot. This makes it cheaper for WV to replace him after next season. If I understand it correctly it's an agreement to give him another season, if they don't like the results he is gone and the school saves some money. Seems like an extension in name only.

I'm looking forward to three signing periods. If they go with two then the December period needs to go
I would like to see the 3 also. The move to the beginning of December is the first step. Next is to add one at end of June or sometime in july

I don't think it would take much for FSU vault above Ole Miss. The Mississippi schools have flirted with success just like aggy, but always fail to sustain it just like aggy. 🤣

Ole Miss will be in the CFB playoffs next year. They are a heavily talented team and also well coached.

Kind of the opposite of aggy.

If that happens Kiffin will be gone after next year. And thus the cycle continues.

My initial thought is no.
Conference championship is meaningful. Being one of sixteen teams in a playoff is too much like a participation trophy, imo.

With the current makeup of the conferences it's inevitable that in some cases picking the top 2 teams will be arbitrary, and a team that could win on the field will be eliminated. My thinking is I would rather make the conference champion selected based on which team has the highest rank after the playoffs, thus freeing up a week for the playoff tournament.

Another comment is not playing in the conference championship game could be an advantage for a team that's really good, but not selelected. i.e. missing the CCG could act as a bye week.

Making the 14 or 16 team playoff won't be as big of a deal as making it to the 4 team playoffs, but I don't see that as a problem. It would be more like making it to the NCAA basketball tournament, it's an accomplishment, but for the top teams certainly not the goal. The further a team advances the bigger the visibility and prestige.

The only job that I think 1) could be available, and 2) that he would take . . would be Ohio State. If Ryan Day craps the bed again, his number could be up. Of course, his team should be loaded this year.

Otherwise, I don't see a vacancy at a place he'd leave for. Ole Miss has treated him well and are paying him a very good salary. He's in the middle of the best recruiting in the nation. They give him pretty much anything he wants. And he's built a team that will contend for the NC. So frankly I don't know why he'd leave.

Think of it in much the same way Texas was back when we were wandering in the wilderness. Academics ruled the day and didn't want to spend so much on athletics, namely football. So glad that's over. But I think Ole Miss went through something similar.
