2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

IT reporting CB Kobe Black will make his announcement on November 29th.

Waco Connally lost to Jasper tonight, so Black's father told IT they are looking to be in Austin for the Tech game.

I love VY and he is the GOAT at Texas, but I was also at the game here in Fayetteville, Ark., in 2004 when he was not great and the Horns would have lost to Arkansas again (they lost at home the previous year when Chance Mock was the QB) had Derek Johnson knocked the ball out of Matt Jones' hands when Arkansas was easily in range to kick a game-winning field goal. Ewers is not VY, but VY was not the all-world player he later became when he first started. It's doubtful that Texas will ever have a dual-threat QB to compare to VY and making a comparison is foolish.

Yea you are right football has absolutely nothing to do with comparisons. McCoy was never compared to the VY legacy. Ricky being compared to Earl. Heisman candidates are never compared against each other. Playoff Committee doesnt compared records. Conference standings do not compare records or even head to head wins. People comparing Manning to Owens and saying Arch may not be as good out HS as Owens because he played at a private school is foolish too. My favorite was how Bijan may not be as good Zach Evans was due Arizona football competition. So yea I can compare and if its foolish so be it thats football

I am fully aware of the VY struggles early but you wont change my mind he was the best QB we have ever had. I am pulling for Ewers but I doubt in 15 years from now we will be talking about him like we do VY or Colt.

How's he going to take an OV with a playoff game next weekend?
He might be confused, but it could still work.

They play Cuero at 3 p.m. on Friday in the Houston area, and he could get to Austin later that night.

I do think we could be in a bit of a numbers crunch at DB in this class. If we get Kobe Black and Xavier Filsiame we would be at 3 CBs and 2 safeties in the class. We likely bring in at least 1 transfer who can play safety. Can we afford to bring in 6 DBs, 4 CBs?

Hard to say no to a player with this level of talent.
DBs 5 seniors, Watts and Thompson gone for sure. Baron good pro prospect. Crawford ? Catalon could return but injury bug might change his mind on returning.

Holmes a jr. could go pro. Jordan, Brooks, Taffee ans Guilbeauproably return. sophs. Redshirt freshman Brice portal canidate.true freshmen Muhammad, Gooden, Allen?, Williams, McDonald and Robertson should return

Prospects are The Black brothers, Filsaime and Bridges or 4 more plus the 3 commitments would be a great class but large in size. so assumeing no sr. returns and Brice portals would leave 11 returning, if so room for 7 more.

Good Lord, can this argument end? VY is THE best player in Texas football history. Ewers will have his place in Texas history when it's all said and done and hopefully it will put him right behind VY.

Seriously. Nobody gives a ratz azz about ancient history being posted on a 2024 recruiting board. Geez

Dont compare Ewers to VY. Its not even close. Both were 1.0000 on the rating scale coming out of HS. The highest rated.

Ewers isnt even close to being that good. Its not even a debate really.

VY was incredible but he would have loved to have Ewers arm talent. Ewers will be an NFL QB
Sadly VY was not.

VY would have faired well in todays game compared to when he came out. But he also didn't work or study hard enough, so that also did him in...

I don't expect Catalon to return or play football again.

Brooks, Jordan, Muhammad are all solid to spectacular (Muhammad). In fact, I'd say Muhammad is the most talented DB we've acquired in some time. Now he has experience to go with all that talent.

And I like the DBs coming into the fold with the recruiting class. The kid of Louisiana could start as a freshman, IMO.

Ummm...VY led the nation in completion percentage his last year at Texas (regarding arm talent). He was NFL offensive ROTY and a Pro Bowler. To say Vince wasn't an NFL quarterback is ridiculous...
With receivers who weren't that great, too.

In my mind, VY is the best to ever play QB at Texas. I know the names I have to compare to, and I don't flinch saying that.
