A&M Sure Likes Spending Money

What's so funny is Jimbo comes across as a total dufus and yet they give him that kind of money. Heck, I'd underperform just so I can retire early and in style. He's apparently not as dumb as he seems. I suspect after seeing Sark's professionalism and performance the aggy BMDs realize they really screwed up.

Biggest college football buyouts ever paid:

5. Tom Herman: $15.4 million
4. Willie Taggart: $18 million
3. Charlie Weis: $19 million
2. Gus Malzahn: $21.5 million
---
1. Jimbo Fisher: $75 million

Well they can say they broke the buyout record. Get the dumbass of the century award. No other way to describe that contract to begin with

Wow aggy really smashed that record. Jimbos jumbo buyout is MORE then the next 4 biggest buyouts combined.

not a list I like seeing us on....but every Texas State Regent that signed off on both of those contracts, needs to resign immediately

I read somewhere that Texas being in the CFP discussion this year just triggered aggy like nothing else. So yes, it's very possible that the success Texas is having may have played a role.

Could BMDs having to cover Jumbo’s salary through 2030 reduce the amount of NIL they’re willing to donate? Seems plausible. Thoughts?

No, they'll have to spend more just to keep some of the players they have, and to get new players to come to that miserable place.

I don't know about that...If I had to pony up more $$$ then I want a say in who gets hired. We all know how good that works out.

You know they're pi$$ed about that stupid contract. Getting them to pony up even more could be a tougher sell. Then again, they are aggys so who knows?

Whoever did that contract for A&M should be fired. So they go 10 years $75M guaranteed. Ok so that’s who they wanted so ok. But then just a few years in they add like 5 more years and a BUNCH more money guaranteed. At that point he wasn’t even doing as good as Sumlin. So why not wait a few more years and see if you still want to extend him? Teams weren’t beating down his door to get him……..he wasn’t going anywhere. The extension for more years and make him one of the highest paid coaches in the country just made ZERO sense. That’s how he is now owed $76M.

At the time, LSU had just booted their HC and were starting a search for a new one. Word got out that LSU-Fisher might be a good marriage and aggy stupidly reacted to that with the extension to keep him from leaving. I'm sure Fisher laughed. I know LSU laughed.

And now we're all laughing.

that pimp of an agent Jimmy Sexton, the same one that got us all drooling over the prospect of St Nick coming to Austin orchestrated all of it

Im sure it did , they took the poison pill and will probably go scorched earth and try and rebuild a competitive program

I would assume Elko and Traylor are the leaders for HC.
I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t fork out $80 million to turn around and hire a very inexperienced head coach that will likely demand a guaranteed contract like they’ve set the precedent on. That’s just stupid, but we ARE talking about Aggy

Some thought DKR was inexperienced. I sure they do not hire Traylor for some reason
