Last 6 years

Ohio State - 67 wins for 11 wins per season.

Texas - 45 wins for 7.5 wins per season.

@Austin Horn appears to be spot on with regards to Texas.

I only went back 6 years because, if you go back 13 years, it gets worse for Texas ?
Ohio State was dog poop before Urban got there. I wonder how many continued to expect dog poop after he arrived.

Hopefully.

You would think the added revenue and excitement from the 9 game schedule would have been eneugh for the schools to make it happen in 2024.

It's hard to know exactly how the decision was made. It seemed like there were lots of stuff being said by Sankey over the last year hinting at a 9 game schedule. Maybe it's as you say a short term scheduling issue, maybe it's about trying to negotiate more money from ESPN, maybe it's over concerns of some schools rivals are too hard(cough cough Alabama),maybe it's about getting more teams into bowl games, or the play offs. Without any transparency it's hard to know if/when they will move to a 9 games schedule,  I guess only time will tell.
I heard someone on radio say that the midtier teams want the extra powder puff game.

I see Brett McMurphy’s bowl projections and he has Texas in the Alamo Bowl. Texas fans are upset. Sadly, that projection is right until proven differently. There’s a lot of questions marks about this team. We are 7-8 win team until proven otherwise.
What position group(s) would you say are a weakness? The weakest that I see is Edge and they are young but above average. If you're talking about depth at some positions then I agree but then again there is only one position I see and that is TE.

I can definitely understand that, but I would think the big revenue schools would have most of the power.  If that's the issue then maybe TX and 0u will tip the scale once they become voting members.

Per Locked On SEC on Youtube only Missouri, A&M, Georgia, LSU and Florida voted for a 9 game conference schedule. Alabama being Bama and showing Satan's true colors.

One thing I read yesterday had Texas-Texas A$M as the annual conference matchup for both teams.

That was upsetting as I don't care about beating aggy near as much as I care about beating OU.

Not no, but HELL NO!
In '75 when I got to UT, I quickly found out that our hated rival was ou and a&m was our little brother / crazy cousin.

I was just playing with scheduling and this is what it might look like as a home and away.

Interesting,  would have expected tennessee , and maybe a few others.

There could be a few schools angling for match ups more to their liking.  Perhaps Arky wants assurance that TX will be one of their annual games. Saban was a yes until he didn't like the proposed match ups. No telling which other schools could be angling for something that helps them.

I wonder exactly how this decision is made, do all schools get one vote? Or do schools that generate more revenue somehow get more say.

I'm going to disagree. Past seasons have no bearing whatsoever on what happens this year. You can pretend we have the same kind of roster and the same kind of problems, but you're just pretending.

Things have changed. But it makes no difference to me  if any of you want to expect what you've seen for the past six years – this year – simply because it is what happened in the past.

We have news stories, threads, etc., talking about the most talented roster in the Big 12. Well, either that makes a difference or some are right about Texas being cursed.

I don't believe in curses though.
Imagine that. You disagree. Color me shocked ?

Yes, they were dog poop the year prior to Urban getting there, going 6-7 under an interim head coach in 2011.

Prior to that, their last losing season was 1988. And prior to that, their last losing season was 1966. And prior to that, it was 1959. And prior to that, it was 1947.

I believe that matches the 5 losing seasons Texas has had since 2010.

Ohio State's dog poop doesn't resemble Texas's dog poop in the least ?

Why are you lowering the bar suddenly? You're now tossing out the phrase "last losing season" so we're talking about 6 wins or so to best that, yet we're disappointed if we have to think about 8-9 wins at UT?

If we're always going to be like the past, then this entire exercise is a charade, a farce. Even a message board talking about this team is a farce. We'll never be better, always the same, and that's the way it is.

lol, okay.

I wouldn’t say weakness on roster. What I’m saying is can this team win and play on a consistent basis and week to week.

Apparently this is just a short term solution with a bunch of schools not wanting to cancel non-conference games. Lots of talk of going to a 9 game schedule in the next couple of years.
SEC teams didn’t want to give up their cupcake non conf schedules?

I’m tired of every offseason and saying this is the year and no excuses. Then we  keep making excuses. It’s prove it time. I remember in 2019 when I said this is the year.

I would think that falls whithin the realm of coaching. I wasn't Red McCombs but I did wonder about Strong. I liked the Herman hire until his juvenile antics. Sark seems much more focused and articulate in what he wants or expects.

Read some time back on On3 time for Texas to put up or shut up.

And it has been a long, long time since Texas was comparable toOhio State.

If Horns get by the power house first game opponent. Question is will Ewers last the whole game vs Ala.
