Predict the Schedule – 2023

Beating ou will depend on Gaberil if he is healthy and plays whole game they will be tough.
He's a yah-yah sisterhood of the traveling pants kind of player. He's okay when things are working perfectly. When the wheels fall off even a little, however, he is a liability.

Even OU's TFB side thinks OU's offense will be dramatically better when Gabriel leaves.

You all might think Gaberiel is not much of  QB. If I was a betting man I wouldlay odds his stats are better than you know who. This is for last season.

I second Big Daddy Cane's point in saying it never plays out the way it shows on paper, and I absolutely will not get sucked into drinking the koolaid until I see us win games we're supposed to win.

Rice – W

Bama – L

Wyoming – W

Baylor – L

Kansas – W

Oklahoma – W

Houston – W

BYU – W

K-State – L

TCU – L

Iowa State – W

Tech – W

Prediction: 8-4. Hope they prove me wrong.
Agreed, we are a 7-8 win team until proven otherwise

Penciling in a loss to ou is tough for me to do. I mean, come on. 49-0 to losing in just a year, with our roster being better?

We probably won't score 49 points but we will win by at least two TDs.
? that would mean ouSux is up to a 35 point improvement over our team's improvement. I expect to see Wright in mop up duty. The only way it becomes a 2 TD game is if their starters are still playing in the 4th quarter against our walk ons. 63-28 and their side is empty (except for those who fell asleep or passed out) by the 3rd quarter.

10-2 is my minimum expectation and winning the Big 12 to go 11-2.  Anything less is failure. If Sark cannot win with this roster he won't make it here.
I think the potential talent on this roster is too young to be a contender for the NC. I think it's good enough to challenge the Big 12 title now. In 2-3 years when they are juniors and seniors that will tell me if Sark is the man or not for this job.

Just general thoughts. Big majority of team is Sarks recruits. One excuse gone

How long will Team is too young be used.

Big 12 is down this year. If no winning season this year then it will be worse in SEC. No kool ade, but might eat a little rainbow stew.

This "we suck until we don't" crap is getting old. How miserable must some people be to always have to be negative. Patterson screwed this athletic dept. And he did such an adept job that we're still digging our way out.

If you can't see the improvement from 2021, you're blind.

As a Texas Rangers fan I have learned to holster my PTSD and live with a "hope springs eternal" attitude. If they are going to disappoint me I can always wait for it until the fall. My days before then are much better for it. Does success taste better if you're pessimistic for 3/4 of the year?

I would say until Horns putssome skins on the wall. And on excuses how soon so many of us forget.
So you're going to shut your mouth about this team until they put some skins on the wall? lol

Kinda self-inflicted, but okay.

You realize you have to take that approach every single year. Even if we win everything we look at this year – the 2024 team hasn't proven a thing.

You worked hard to get into this spot.

Nonsense. You dismissed players who have established reputation and come up with the odd "it didn't happen at Texas" response.

Imagine if our coaching staff took your approach. We'd never accept a recruit and never accept a transfer because no matter how well thought of they are – they didn't do it at Texas.

I hope you're chuckling in your recliner like I am.

On chuckling Yes I am.i use to wear orange tinted glasses   but  loses to ND, TCU and others made me lose them.

Been a long road since I first heard of Long Horns 1941 after they nipped Oregon in a bowl game. Lotsof bumps and ruts. But fun and one hell of a ride.

Can you remember your thoughts about the 2005 team at this point in the year? Did you have any idea the MNC was coming? I know DKR's two title teams were pretty well hyped at the time.

ND has broken my heart a time or two. TCU just pisses me off. Cockroaches was a good word for them.

You've probably seen more UT football than anyone else on this board, I'd imagine.

I also hate the "we suck until we don't" take, its lazy.  I do think relevant history needs to be taken into account as well as the context of this team and this season.  I am thinking we go 10-2 and win the Big 12.  With the upside of 12-0 and downside of 9-3.

I have us losing to Bama and an unknown.

Context of the team:   I think we will be a better team than last year (more talent infused into the team, combined with a year more experience at most positions), particularly with Quinn having a year of starting under his belt and by all accounts looks improved.

Context of the past:   Sark's in game coaching I believe has improved from year 1 to year 2, we have seen a team prepared better for road games and we have looked better in second halves.   That being said we still did blow some second half leads, so Sark still needs to figure some things out with regards to in game adjustments.  I believe as he has more of "his guys" in place and a QB with experience it opens up his playbook more and therefore more second half adjustment can be made. We have seen win totals rise and losses were close, so I think we have reason to believe in the upward trajectory with some pause before saying everything is figured out and we will perform to our talent level.

Context of the year:  We will field the most talent every game except against Bama and the Big 12 in general is meant to be down, but this year is our last year in the Big 12.  We will have a target on our back every single week (more so than we always do) to send us off with a goodbye loss.  We may get a little bit of unfavourable treatment from the refs.  I think teams will throw the kitchen sink at us and be willing to take unconventional approaches like Techs go for it on every 4th down last year to knock us off.

Between the unanswered coaching concerns and the context of the year.  I think we will drop a game we are favoured in, but the team still accomplishes big things and we leave our stamp on the Big 12 with the championship in our final year.
