My nephew, a Sooner fan, has been telling me all day; “Texas has had good classes before”. The issue over the last decade as we are all painfully aware has been development. All the angst about the aggie class makes me wonder just how many of their classes have panned out to their rankings with their perpetual 3rd-4th place finish? Not sure Jimbo has done any better at developing his highly ranked classes than Texas has of late.

All the angst about the aggie class makes me wonder just how many of their classes have panned out to their rankings with their perpetual 3rd-4th place finish? Not sure Jimbo has done any better at developing his highly ranked classes than Texas has of late.

True but in all those classes we whiffed on the big uglies. They all went elsewhere. This is the type of class it takes to get over the hump in my opinion. Hate the Sooners but they have had a fantastic OL the last decade and look at the success. Ready To watch it play out as long as we can keep ‘em with this damn portal stuff

My main point though was that the aggies haven’t developed their highly ranked classes into the force Jimbo promised despite landing the big uglies and skilled guys.

and 2010's

and again today..

True... Texas has never had an issue recruiting.. The difference this year is the haul on both lines and a potential generational QB. Finish it off with a couple more DBs and WRs and could be special in a couple of years. Now need a successful year on the field and stack a few recruiting classes together and things may be different this time.  Or I may be drinking the burnt orange Kool-aid...

I mean 5-7 record and a top 5 class. Pretty impressive that the coaches are able to sell the vision. I’ll take a top 5 class every year TBH, even on a 10 win season

I think the coaches are recruiting the right way. Build the trenches first then go for the specialists. When was the last time Texas had a haul of linemen on both sides of the ball like this year.

There will be some movement to the portal by old or new linemen after spring.
