GAME THREAD: Kansas State Wildcats at Texas Longhorns

Herman never seemed willing to contribute to the defensive side of the ball and Charlie never seemed able to contribute to the offensive side. Maybe Sark is figuring out that as the Head coach, he has to stay involved in the entire game flow? If so, it is a big realization. Even if it took almost his entire first season.
Well, this is his 3rd head coaching job so I'm not sure why he would just now be figuring out that he has to stay involved in the entire game flow.

Yes... and Sark has had 2 other head coaching jobs at big time schools.
Steve Spurrier once said, “I’m head coach for the offense Bob Stoops is for the defense” when asked about Stoopsy by OUs search committee.   It can work other ways, but you certainly MUST hire the right guy to “run your defense.”

I was surprised Sark hired defensive position coaches before landing PK. As a staff, they didn't appear to be on the same page all season. Seems ass-backwards to me, in hindsight.

Gideon and Joseph both raised an eyebrow to me. Would think the DB coaches would need experience in the Coach K system.

Is it rocket sience? Seems like D. Cord would tell other coaches this is what I want.

Safteys 10 yds. back for example.LBS fill the gap etc. If not next man in game.
Well, if defense isn't Sark's thing why not let the DC hire guys he wants to run his system?

He can start by looking in the mirror first.
I think he expected this to some degree. I think we didn't. I think thats why he started off his hiring conversation with the word "rebuild." Nobody on this board has used that word until midway through this season. Maybe he sees things way before we do.

Then in wide world of sports why did he say we have good enough talent to win? Coach speak?

Is Sark starting off his hiring conversation with the word "rebuild" common knowledge or is it something that only a few insiders know about?

Overestimating the OL? You had Kerstetter and Okafor coming back for a 5th season. Notice how they addressed other needs in the portal last year?

If thats true, what's wrong with that? Even as bad as he thought it was, the lack of team speed had to be addressed and LB. I suppose Sark just told Flood to fix it.

Same with several players. Side view OU is as dirty as old Miami.
Doesn't matter when the Big 12 officials never call them for anything.

Like none of the refs saw the OU player drag his cleat then step on the Sanders' family parts. Stuff like that ought to be an automatic ejection.

No pun intended.

Referee's are allowed to change games with impunity these days. The NFL is the worst offender. The unofficial official hip check. 28 penalties against one team?

It just shows pissed off conferences how to strike back.

Note to PK this is what a pass rush can do to a good QB.Okie St. Auburn and Mich, all made Good QBS look poor to average.

Maybe next year.
